Baldios: Il Guerriero dello Spazio tra Nomura e il Collezionismo Italiano
Trasmessa nel 1980, Baldios (Uchu Senshi Baldios) si distingue nel panorama dei super robot per la sua trama cupa e il finale drammatico, diventando un vero cult tra gli appassionati di fantascienza. La storia di Marin Reigan e del suo viaggio spazio-temporale ha dato vita a una linea di giocattoli iconica, dominata dalla ditta Nomura.
Il fiore all’occhiello della produzione è senza dubbio il Baldios DX, un modello imponente e trasformabile composto dai tre iconici veicoli: il Pulser Burn, il Cutter Ranger e il Baldy Price. Oltre alle versioni Standard (ST) e Mini prodotte da Nomura, in questa pagina analizziamo una rarità per il mercato europeo: i modelli distribuiti dall’italiana Al-Es, pezzi storici molto ambiti dai collezionisti nostrani.

| BALDIOS -31 PUNTATE – 1977 |
In un futuro lontano, il pianeta Saul 1, chiamato dai suoi abitanti “S1” è al collasso a causa dell’inquinamento da radiazioni; gli abitanti sono costretti a vivere nel sottosuolo ed anche quel rifugio comincia a divenire precario in quanto la mancanza di risorse e l’avanzare degli influssi radioattivi inizia a destabilizzare il fragile equilibrio politico e sociale del pianeta. Un gruppo di scienziati, guidati dal Prof. Reigan, è vicino alla soluzione che permetterebbe il ritorno alla superficie agli abitanti del pianeta ma incontra la crescente ostilità della fazione militare secondo la quale l’unica soluzione sarebbe quella di abbandonare il pianeta e di colonizzarne uno nuovo con qualsiasi mezzo, guerra compresa. Theo Gattler, il leader militare, dopo aver commissionato l’uccisione dell’imperatore di S-1, eseguita per mano di Afrodia, sua fedelissima luogotenente, auto proclamatosi dittatore e capo supremo, accusando gli scienziati di aver cospirato ai danni di S-1, ne decreta la condanna a morte. Miran, fratello minore di Afrodia, a capo di una squadra di soldati guida l’assalto al laboratorio dove nel frattempo il Prof. Reigan ormai aveva trovato il sistema per decontaminare l’aria, uccidendo tutti e distruggendo i frutti di anni di ricerche; durante l’assalto, dopo aver ferito mortalmente il Prof. Reigan, viene a sua volta ucciso dal figlio di questi, Marin, che aveva aiutato il padre a perfezionare quella che avrebbe potuto essere l’ultima possibilità di salvezza per il popolo di S-1. Gattler intanto, facendo leva sull’ormai inarrestabile malcontento popolare, dà inizio al progetto di abbandonare S-1; imbarcatosi su una enorme astronave “Argo”, sulla quale trovano rifugio 100 milioni di abitanti di S-1, inizia le operazioni per il salto nell’iperspazio. Durante i preparativi Afrodia dà la caccia a Marin con l’intento di vendicare suo fratello Miran; il giovane Reigan era fuggito dal laboratorio in fiamme a bordo di un jet sperimentale costruito dal padre, il “Pulser Burn”, ed Afrodia lo rintraccia. Proprio mentre lo scontro fra i due sta per concludersi, i reattori della nave Argo aprono uno squarcio nello spazio-tempo in cui vengono risucchiati la stessa Argo, la navicella di Afrodia ed il Pulser Burn. Marin viene ritrovato con il suo mezzo sulla luna dai Blue Fixers, una squadra speciale al servizio delle Nazioni Unite terrestri e, grazie alle proprie conoscenze, diviene il pilota del Baldios, gigantesco umanoide, ultima difesa utile per la Terra, nonostante i suoi compagni e i terrestri lo guardino con sospetto e circospezione, per via dei suoi natali. Dopo una lunga e inconcludente guerra, S1 decide di utilizzare tutte le proprie risorse per sciogliere le calotte artiche, mettendo così i terrestri in ginocchio. Lo scioglimento dei ghiacciai però, da alla terra la stessa forma di S-1 , facendo cosi capire ai soldati di Gattler ed ai terrestri che S-1 in realtà è la Terra del futuro, e sia Marin che i soldati di Gattler non hanno viaggiato attraverso le dimensioni, bensì nel tempo.Con la scoperta che gli abitanti di S1 sono terrestri provenienti dal futuro, alcuni soldati di Gattler tra cui la principessa Afrodia prima si ribellano al comando del generale Gattler, e poi lo fanno uccidere dai componenti di Baldios. |
Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla ditta NOMURA 
e alcuni modelli anche dall’Italiana Al-Es 
Robot realizzato in 2 versioni (Standard e Deluxe) dalla ditta Nomura. Non sono giocattoli particolarmente rari da trovare ma il Baldios Dx rimane comunque molto costoso.

Marine Ragan
Alieno abitante del pianeta S1, durante una battaglia contro il perfido Zeo Gattler si ritrova in prossimità della Terra a causa di uno sbalzo spazio/temporale. Inizialmente trova diffidenza da parte dei terrestri, poi diventa leader dei Bluefixer e pilota del robot Baldios.
Raita Hokuto
Fa parte del gruppo dei Bluefixer, è il pilota del Cutter Ranger, veicolo che in fase di trasformazione diventa una delle 2 gambe del Baldios
Jack Oliver
Fa parte del gruppo dei Bluefixer, è il pilota del Baldy Price, veicolo che in fase di trasformazione diventa una delle 2 gambe del Baldios
Takeshi Tsukikage
Comandante e creatore del gruppo dei Bluefixer, crede nelle buone intenzioni di Marin e gli affida la guida del Baldios.

Scienziata, fa parte dei Bluefixer, è lei l’ideatrice del robot Baldios
Jamie Hoshino
Jamie è l’unica ragazza della squadra Blue Fixer, e suscita un forte senso di protezione nei suoi compagni; Oliver ne è anzi segretamente innamorato, mentre a sua volta Jamie prova sentimenti teneri per il nuovo arrivato Marin.
Theo Gattler
Tiranno di S1, abbandona il pianeta ormai disrutto dalle radiazioni che lo hanno reso inabitabile e dichiara guerra alla Terra per poter dare una nuova patria al suo popolo.
Aphrodia
Generale di Gattler, nutre un profondo odio nei confronti di Marin ritenedolo colpevole della morte del padre. Nel finale drammatico della serie deciderà però di tradire Gattler innamorandosi di Marin dopo aver scoperto la verità.
Imperatore Triminias III
E’ l’Imperatore del pianeta S1, viene assassinato da Afrodia che a sua volta con un complotto incolperà il padre di Marin.
Milan
Fratello minore di Afrodia, è diventato un ufficiale in servizio sotto i suoi ordini. Viene involontariamente ucciso da Marin nel vano tentativo di salvare la vita al professor Reigan.

In a distant future, the planet Saul 1, called “S1” by its inhabitants, is collapsing due to radiation pollution; the inhabitants are forced to live underground and even that refuge is starting to become precarious as the lack of resources and the advance of radioactive influences begin to destabilize the fragile political and social balance of the planet. A group of scientists, led by Prof. Reigan, is close to the solution that would allow the return to the surface of the inhabitants of the planet but encounters the growing hostility of the military faction according to which the only solution would be to abandon the planet and colonize a new one by any means, including war. Theo Gattler, the military leader, after having commissioned the killing of the emperor of S-1, carried out by Afrodia, his most faithful lieutenant, self-proclaimed dictator and supreme leader, accusing the scientists of having conspired against S-1, decrees the death sentence. Miran, Afrodia’s younger brother, heads a team of soldiers and leads the assault on the laboratory where in the meantime Prof. Reigan had found the system to decontaminate the air, killing everyone and destroying the fruits of years of research; during the assault, after having mortally wounded Prof. Reigan, he is in turn killed by his son, Marin, who had helped his father to perfect what could have been the last chance of salvation for the people of S-1. Meanwhile, Gattler, taking advantage of the now unstoppable popular discontent, begins the project to abandon S-1; boarding a huge spaceship “Argo”, on which 100 million inhabitants of S-1 find refuge, he begins operations for the jump into hyperspace. During the preparations, Afrodia hunts down Marin with the intent of avenging her brother Miran; the young Reigan had escaped from the burning laboratory aboard an experimental jet built by his father, the “Pulser Burn”, and Afrodia tracks him down. Just as the battle between the two is about to end, the Argo ship’s reactors open a rift in space-time into which the Argo itself, Afrodia’s spaceship and the Pulser Burn are sucked. Marin is found with his vehicle on the moon by the Blue Fixers, a special team at the service of the Earth’s United Nations and, thanks to his knowledge, he becomes the pilot of the Baldios, a gigantic humanoid, the last useful defense for the Earth, despite his companions and the Earthlings looking at him with suspicion and circumspection, due to his origins. After a long and inconclusive war, S1 decides to use all its resources to melt the Arctic ice caps, thus bringing the Earthlings to their knees. The melting of the glaciers, however, gives the Earth the same shape as S-1, making Gattler’s soldiers and the Earthlings understand that S-1 is actually the Earth of the future, and both Marin and Gattler’s soldiers have not traveled through dimensions, but through time. With the discovery that the inhabitants of S1 are Earthlings from the future, some of Gattler’s soldiers, including Princess Afrodia, first rebel against the command of General Gattler, and then have him killed by the members of Baldios. |
The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the company NOMURA and some models also from Italy Al-Es
Robot made in 2 versions (Standard and Deluxe) by the Nomura company. They are not particularly rare toys to find but the Baldios Dx is still very expensive.

Marine Ragan
Alien inhabitant of the planet S1, during a battle against the evil Zeo Gattler he finds himself near Earth due to a space/time shift. Initially he finds distrust on the part of the earthlings, then he becomes leader of the Bluefixers and pilot of the robot Baldios.
Raita Hokuto
He is part of the Bluefixer group, he is the pilot of the Cutter Ranger, a vehicle that during transformation becomes one of the 2 legs of the Baldios
Jack Oliver
He is part of the Bluefixer group, he is the pilot of the Baldy Price, a vehicle that during transformation becomes one of the 2 legs of the Baldios
Takeshi Tsukikage
Commander and creator of the Bluefixer group, he believes in Marin’s good intentions and entrusts him with the leadership of Baldios.
Era Queenstein
Scientist, she is part of the Bluefixer, she is the creator of the Baldios robot
Jamie Hoshino
Jamie is the only girl on the Blue Fixer team, and inspires a strong sense of protectiveness in her companions; Oliver is actually secretly in love with her, while Jamie in turn has tender feelings for the newcomer Marin.
Theo Gattler
Tyrant of S1, he abandons the planet now destroyed by radiation that has made it uninhabitable and declares war on Earth to be able to give a new homeland to his people.
Aphrodia
General of Gattler, he has a deep hatred towards Marin believing him to be responsible for his father’s death. In the dramatic finale of the series, however, he decides to betray Gattler by falling in love with Marin after discovering the truth.
Imperatore Triminias III
He is the Emperor of the planet S1, he is assassinated by Afrodia who in turn will plot to blame Marin’s father.
Milan
Aphrodia’s younger brother, he became an officer serving under her orders. He is accidentally killed by Marin in a vain attempt to save Professor Reigan’s life.
