Capitan Futuro: L’Odissea Spaziale della Future Comet
Prodotta dalla Toei Animation nel 1978 e basata sui romanzi di Edmond Hamilton, la serie segue le avventure di Curtis Newton. Insieme al suo equipaggio artificiale (Otto, Greg e il Cervello), il Capitano vigila sul sistema solare a bordo della leggendaria Future Comet (conosciuta in Italia come Cosmos), una nave iconica dal design avveniristico.
Nel mondo del collezionismo, i pezzi più pregiati sono quelli prodotti da Popy nelle celebri linee Popinica e Chogokin. Il “Sacro Graal” assoluto della serie è la Future Comet DX in metallo (PB-78), affiancata dal Cosmo Liner (PB-79) e dal particolare modello dedicato a Simon Wright (PB-80). Per gli amanti dei robot, spicca il Glauge Robot (GA-97), un diecast solido e di grande fascino che raggiunge oggi prezzi elevati, rappresentando un pezzo fondamentale per completare la collezione dedicata alla saga.

| CAPITAN FUTURO – 52 PUNTATE – 1978 |
La storia ha inizio nel 1990 quando lo scienziato Roger Newton, sua moglie Elaine, ed il suo brillante collega Simon Wright lasciano la Terra per una spedizione di ricerca in un isolato laboratorio sulla Luna. Il corpo di Simon è vecchio e malandato, e Roger gli consente di continuare le sue ricerche trasferendo il suo cervello, perfettamente lucido, in un contenitore artificiale fluttuante. Lavorando insieme, i due scienziati riescono a creare un robot intelligente che chiamano Grag, ed un uomo artificiale, o androide, con la capacità di mutare forma, chiamato Otho. Sfortunatamente, lo scienziato criminale Victor Kaslan arriva sulla Luna ed assassina i Newton. Della famiglia Newton sopravvive soltanto il figlio, Curtis, che viene cresciuto dall’insolito trio composto da Otho, Grag, e Simon Wright (spesso chiamato il Cervello Vivente). Sotto la loro tutela, Curtis cresce fino a diventare un brillante scienziato, oltre che un atleta dotato di forza e velocità da campione. Sviluppa un forte senso di responsabilità e spera di usare le sue doti scientifiche per aiutare il prossimo. Nella prima avventura, offre i suoi servigi al Presidente del Sistema Solare, utilizzando, per una misura di riservatezza, lo pseudonimo Capitan Futuro. Simon, Otho e Grag sono chiamati, nelle storie successive, i Futuremen. |

Serie molto amata, toys belli ben realizzati e molto ricercati, hanno molto mercato anche se non perfetti e completi. Toys realizzati sia in Box Japan che per il mercato Europeo. Simon Wright è stato realizzato solo per il mercato europeo, non esiste nessuna versione con Box Japan.

L’eroe della storia. Possiede un temperamento calmo e riflessivo che gli permette d’affrontar sempre le situazioni di maggior pericolo con cognizione di causa; coraggioso e determinato a proteggere l’universo intero dalle mire dei malvagi, è sincero e si rifiuta di uccidere. Dopo la morte prematura dei genitori, avvenuta quand’egli era ancora molto giovane, è cresciuto con Grag ed il professor Simon che lo hanno addestrato insegnandogli tutto ciò che ora sa. Chiamato in aiuto dal presidente del governo solare Kashau nelle più difficili situazioni. |

Per quanto riguarda la produzione Diecast del protagonista, Popy, a differenza di Greg e dei veicoli, non ha classificato il personaggio in nessuna linea. Esiste un box marchiato Popy con un modello prevalentemente in plastica e una versione made in Italy, chiaramente senza copyright con il corpo del Grendizer ricolorato. |

un essere androide il quale, grazie alla particolare struttura sintetica di cui è composto, riesce facilmente a mutar forma e trasformarsi: ha la capacità pertanto di modellare il corpo e il viso come quelli di altre creature viventi. Il suo carattere estroverso e beffardo crea spesso litigi tra lui e Greg
Ezla Garmin
capo dell’esercito e delle forze di polizia del governo solare, è in pratica uno sceriffo interstellare. È lui che chiama Futuro quando si tratta di risolvere gli enigmi più oscuri.
Joan Landor
una giovane donna molto bella che lavora come agente segreto del governo. Innamorata di Curtis, è anche molto coraggiosa e spesso prende parte alle avventure del Capitano, a volte in maniera piuttosto poco avveduta.
L’ imperatore dello spazio
Uno dei nemici storici di Futuro e senz’altro il più pericoloso. Usa un dispositivo ritrovato tra i resti di una antica civiltà che gli permette di rendere il suo corpo intangibile come quello di un fantasma e grazie al quale può passare attraverso la materia.

Captain Future: The Space Odyssey of the Future Comet
Produced by Toei Animation in 1978, Captain Future is a sci-fi masterpiece inspired by Edmond Hamilton’s space opera. Curtis Newton and his specialized crew protect the galaxy aboard the Future Comet (known as Cosmos in Italy), one of the most iconic spaceships in anime history.
The vintage toy market is centered around Popy’s Popinica and Chogokin lines. The top-tier collector’s items are the DX Diecast Future Comet (PB-78), the Cosmo Liner (PB-79), and the unique Simon Wright (PB-80) model. For robot fans, the Glauge Robot (GA-97) is a high-value diecast figure, sought after for its late 70s design and build quality. These pieces, especially in good condition with their original boxes, are essential for any dedicated Captain Future collection.

The story begins in 1990 when scientist Roger Newton, his wife Elaine, and his brilliant colleague Simon Wright leave Earth for a research expedition to an isolated laboratory on the Moon. Simon’s body is old and failing, and Roger allows him to continue his research by transferring his perfectly lucid brain into a floating artificial vessel. Working together, the two scientists create an intelligent robot they call Grag, and a shape-shifting artificial man, or android, named Otho. Unfortunately, criminal scientist Victor Kaslan arrives on the Moon and murders the Newtons. The only surviving member of the Newton family is their son, Curtis, who is raised by the unlikely trio of Otho, Grag, and Simon Wright (often called the Living Brain). Under their tutelage, Curtis grows up to become a brilliant scientist, as well as an athlete with champion strength and speed. He develops a strong sense of responsibility and hopes to use his scientific skills to help others. In the first adventure, he offers his services to the President of the Solar System, using, for a measure of confidentiality, the pseudonym Captain Future. Simon, Otho and Grag are called, in subsequent stories, the Futuremen. |
The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the POPY .
Much loved series, beautiful well made and highly sought after toys, they have a lot of market even if not perfect and complete. Toys made both in Box Japan and for the European market. Simon Wright was made only for the European market, there is no version with Box Japan.

The hero of the story. He has a calm and thoughtful temperament that allows him to always face the most dangerous situations with full knowledge of the facts; brave and determined to protect the entire universe from the aims of evil, he is sincere and refuses to kill. After the premature death of his parents, which occurred when he was still very young, he grew up with Greg and Professor Simon who trained him, teaching him everything he now knows. Called for help by the president of the solar government Kashau in the most difficult situations. |

an android being who, thanks to the particular synthetic structure of which he is composed, can easily change shape and transform himself: he therefore has the ability to model his body and face like those of other living creatures. His extroverted and mocking character often creates arguments between him and Greg
Ezla Garmin
head of the Solar Government’s military and police forces, he is essentially an interstellar sheriff. He is the one Future calls when it comes to solving the darkest puzzles.
Joan Landor
a very beautiful young woman who works as a secret government agent. In love with Curtis, she is also very brave and often takes part in the Captain’s adventures, sometimes rather unwisely.
The Emperor of Space
One of Future’s historical enemies and certainly the most dangerous. He uses a device found among the remains of an ancient civilization that allows him to make his body intangible like that of a ghost and thanks to which he can pass through matter.

Also known as “the wizard of Mars”, he is a bitter enemy of Captain Future.

It aims to destroy the solar system using a Black Planet.
