Godam: Il Piccolo Gigante della Takara
Il Godam è un caso unico nel collezionismo: una fortezza massiccia nel design, ma un modello sorprendentemente compatto nella realtà vintage.
Prodotto dalla Takara, il giocattolo si distingue per le dimensioni ridotte rispetto ai classici DX e per una struttura realizzata quasi interamente in plastica. Questa scelta permetteva di valorizzare la modularità e gli agganci dei veicoli della squadra Gowapper 5. In questa sezione di Robot Vintage, analizziamo l’importanza storica di questo pezzo, che dimostra come l’ingegneria dei giocattoli anni ’70 sapesse concentrare grande personalità in modelli di piccola scala.

| GODAM – 26 PUNTATE – 1978 |
 La storia narra di un gruppo di cinque ragazzi, i Gowapper Five, capeggiato dalla bionda Yoko Misaki. Naufragati su di un’isola deserta dopo essere passati da un pericoloso tratto di mare squassato da potenti gorghi, vi trovano una grotta, che nasconde una base per la ricerca scientifica. Qui si trova Sentaro Shima, che rivela ai ragazzi l’esistenza di una popolazione di mostri, il Popolo Degli Abissi, che vive nelle viscere della terra, e vuole conquistare il mondo, e di come uno scienziato, il professor Hoarai abbia creato un gigantesco robot di nome Godam per fronteggiarli. Il professore, poco prima di morire, riuscì a trasferire la propria mente nel computer centrale di Godam, divenendone quindi la “mente”. I ragazzi, avendo superato “la prova”, cioè sopravvivere ai gorghi che difendono l’isola, sono quindi pronti a difendere la Terra da questa pericolosa minaccia, grazie al possente (ma obsoleto) robot Godam e all’aiuto del professore, che comunica con loro tramite un ologramma. |
Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla ditta 
Takara ha commercializzato il robot e i veicoli dei protagonisti.
Attualmente i diecast della ditta TAKARA non sono ancora stati catalogati nell’ Enciclopedia dei Diecast. Il volume è in fase di realizzazione.

Robot pilotato dai protagonisti. Decisamente tozzo nell’aspetto è alto circa 30 metri. La cabina di comando è nella testa. Viene guidato telepaticamente dai piloti. E’ in grado di scomporsi e con l’uso di altri componenti (tipo Jeeg) può trasformarsi in una sorta di drago meccanico. |

Yoko Misaki
Il leader dei Gowappa, unica ragazza del gruppo, Studente del terzo anno della scuola media. Sebbene sia volitiva, ha un carattere buono e si prende cura di tutti come una sorella maggiore. È brava negli sport e la sua mossa speciale è un calcio circolare.
Go Tsunami
Vicecommandante dei Gowappa. È un ragazzo dal sangue caldo, un po’ goffo ma coraggioso, e ha una personalità brillante e positiva. Assume il comando in assenza di Yoko.
Daikichi Kameyama
Nonostante la stazza è uno studente delle elementari. Il più forte del gruppo, specializzato nella guida di mezzi militari, è coraggioso ma goffo e lento.
Goemon Koishikawa
Quarto membro dei Gowapper. Studente di seconda elementare, è etremamente intelligente, si occupa della manutenzione delle componenti elettroniche del Godam.
Norisuke Kawaguchi
Il membro più giovane di Gowappa 5, ha infatti solo 6 anni.Data la sua giovane età raramente viene lasciato da solo in battaglia.
Keiko Kamikita
Creatore del Godam che a causa di una grave malattia si trova costretto a trasferisce la sua coscienza all’interno del Godam. Si mostra ai componenti della squadra Gowapper 5 attraverso un ologramma.
Imperatore Jigokuda
L’imperatore è Yokokuda è un essere con le sembianze di una fiamma gigantesca. Al suo servizio vi sono il Generale Magda ed Generale Doggar, che sostituisce Magma. L’esercito è formato da uomini composti da sabbia.
Godam: Takara’s Compact Fortress

The story tells of a group of five kids, the Gowapper Five, led by the blonde Yoko Misaki. Shipwrecked on a desert island after passing through a dangerous stretch of sea shaken by powerful whirlpools, they find a cave, which hides a base for scientific research. Here is Sentaro Shima, who reveals to the kids the existence of a population of monsters, the People of the Abyss, who live in the bowels of the earth, and want to conquer the world, and how a scientist, Professor Hoarai, created a gigantic robot named Godam to face them. The professor, shortly before dying, managed to transfer his mind into Godam’s central computer, thus becoming its “mind”. The kids, having passed “the test”, that is, surviving the whirlpools that defend the island, are therefore ready to defend the Earth from this dangerous threat, thanks to the powerful (but obsolete) robot Godam and the help of the professor, who communicates with them via a hologram. |
The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the company
Takara marketed the robot and the protagonists’ vehicles.
Currently the company’s diecasts TAKARA have not yet been catalogued in the Diecast Encyclopedia. The volume is in progress.

Yoko Misaki
The leader of Gowappa, the only girl in the group, A third year middle school student. Although she is strong-willed, she has a good nature and cares for everyone like an older sister. She is good at sports and her special move is a roundhouse kick.
Go Tsunami
The Gowappa’s vice-commander. He is a hot-blooded boy, a little clumsy but brave, and has a bright and positive personality. He takes over command in Yoko’s absence.
Daikichi Kameyama
Despite his size, he is an elementary school student. The strongest of the group, specialized in driving military vehicles, he is brave but clumsy and slow.
Goemon Koishikawa
Fourth member of the Gowapper. A second grade student, he is extremely intelligent and takes care of the maintenance of the electronic components of the Godam.
Norisuke Kawaguchi
The youngest member of Gowappa 5, he is in fact only 6 years old. Given his young age, he is rarely left alone in battle.
Keiko Kamikita
Creator of the Godam who, due to a serious illness, is forced to transfer his consciousness into the Godam. He shows himself to the members of the Gowapper 5 team through a hologram.
Imperator Jigokuda
The emperor is Yokokuda is a being with the appearance of a giant flame. In his service are General Magda and General Doggar, who replaces Magma. The army is made up of men composed of sand.
