Otasukeman: I Predatori del Tempo

Quarta serie del franchise Time Bokan, Otasukeman (conosciuta in Italia come I Predatori del Tempo) è ambientata nel 2980. La storia segue la lotta tra la Pattuglia del Tempo e i Predatori, un trio di rinnegati che, agli ordini del misterioso Tomomot, tenta di modificare gli eventi storici per riscrivere il passato. Hikaru e Nana, nei panni dei Salvastoria, intervengono con i loro veicoli zoomorfi per preservare l’integrità del tempo.

Il merchandising diecast è stato curato dalla Takatoku, che ha realizzato versioni in metallo di quasi tutti i veicoli protagonisti, come l’Otasuke Kinta e l’Otasuke Sai. Particolare rilievo meritano le versioni ST e DX della base mobile Otasuke Sande. Sebbene la serie sia generalmente collezionabile a prezzi ragionevoli, il Golden Box rimane il pezzo più raro e ambito dell’intera produzione, simbolo dell’eccellenza costruttiva Takatoku applicata al genere umoristico/fantascientifico.


OTASUKEMAN – PREDATORI DEL TEMPO – 53 PUNTATE – 1981
Nel 2980 (cioè mille anni nel futuro rispetto alla data della prima messa in onda della serie) il viaggio nel tempo è ormai una realtà consolidata, e per evitare che qualcuno possa modificare la storia per i propri loschi scopi viene istituita una forza di polizia, la Pattuglia del Tempo, che ha la propria sede in una base orbitante a migliaia di chilometri dalla Terra. La base spaziale è gestita dal dottor Tonnan, burbero ma benevolo scienziato, assistito dal professor Onuki e dal robottino Hinebot; alle loro dipendenze sono alcune squadre di intervento che utilizzano dei particolari mezzi in grado di attraversare il flusso del tempo in modo da intervenire laddove ce ne sia bisogno. La serie si focalizza in particolare su due di queste squadre, che guarda caso rispettano in pieno le tipologie dei “buoni” e dei “cattivi” delle Time Bokan: da una parte abbiamo i giovani Hikaru e Nana, dall’altra un bizzarro terzetto composto da Atasha, Sekovitch e Dowalski. Un giorno la squadra formata dai tre insofferenti e sfaticati personaggi viene contattata da un misterioso personaggio incappucciato dal volto coperto, Tomomot, che li convince, promettendo loro che saranno ricordati dalle generazioni future, a servirlo nei suoi piani che sono esattamente all’opposto della filosofia della Pattuglia del Tempo. Tomomot ha scritto un libro sulla storia dell’umanità completamente errato e vuole che i suoi scagnozzi modifichino (spesso in modi bizzarri e improbabili oppure impedendo il verificarsi di famosi avvenimenti) la storia per ottenere il potere supremo. I tre ingenui accettano e si “trasformano” nei malvagi Predatori del Tempo, la cui comparsa mette in allarme Tonnan, che viene al corrente dei piani di Tomomot attraverso il robot Hinebot: a quanto pare i messaggi di Tomomot causano un’interferenza con il cervello elettronico del robottino e possono essere captati in parte. Da quello che si riesce a ricavare dei messaggi di Tomomot, Tonnan ricava una data e un luogo e spedisce in quel luogo e quel tempo le due squadre d’intervento, totalmente ignaro del fatto che una delle due sia composta dai Predatori in incognito.

Come altre serie del genere Time Bokan, amche i veicoli di Otasukeman furono realizzati e curati in ogni dettaglio dalla Takatoku. Delle varie serie sono i più semplici e meno costosi da trovare. Tranne il Golden Box che è raro e costoso

Dowalskji

Uomo di fatica, membro anche lui della Pattuglia del Tempo come Atasha e Sekovitch. Eccelle negli sport in cui bisogna usare la forza, ma non brilla per intelligenza.

Gekigashi

Membro della Pattuglia del tempo nessuno sa che quel bel ragazzo all’apparenza innocente sia in realtà Tomomot, il perfido despota che vuole che la storia vada secondo il libro che lui ha scritto.

Otasukeman: The Time Raiders

The fourth installment of the Time Bokan franchise, Otasukeman (known as Time Raiders), is set in the year 2980. The story follows the conflict between the Time Patrol and the Raiders, a trio of renegades who, under the orders of the mysterious Tomomot, attempt to alter historical events to rewrite the past. Hikaru and Nana, as the History Savers, intervene with their zoomorphic vehicles to preserve the integrity of time.

The diecast merchandising was handled by Takatoku, which produced metal versions of nearly all the main vehicles, such as Otasuke Kinta and Otasuke Sai. Special mention goes to the ST and DX versions of the Otasuke Sande mobile base. While the series is generally affordable for collectors, the Golden Box remains the rarest and most coveted piece of the entire production, symbolizing Takatoku’s manufacturing excellence applied to the comedic sci-fi genre.

In 2980 (that is, a thousand years in the future compared to the date of the first broadcast of the series) time travel is now a consolidated reality, and to prevent anyone from modifying history for their own shady purposes, a police force is established, the Time Patrol, which has its headquarters in an orbiting base thousands of kilometers from Earth. The space base is managed by Dr. Tonnan, a gruff but benevolent scientist, assisted by Professor Onuki and the little robot Hinebot; under their command are some intervention teams that use special vehicles capable of crossing the flow of time in order to intervene where necessary. The series focuses in particular on two of these teams, which coincidentally fully respect the typologies of the “good” and “bad” of the Time Bokan: on one side we have the young Hikaru and Nana, on the other a bizarre trio composed of Atasha, Sekovitch and Dowalski. One day the team formed by the three impatient and lazy characters is contacted by a mysterious hooded character with a covered face, Tomomot, who convinces them, promising them that they will be remembered by future generations, to serve him in his plans that are exactly the opposite of the philosophy of the Time Patrol. Tomomot has written a book on the history of humanity that is completely wrong and wants his henchmen to change (often in bizarre and unlikely ways or by preventing the occurrence of famous events) history to obtain supreme power. The three naive people accept and “transform” into the evil Time Raiders, whose appearance alarms Tonnan, who becomes aware of Tomomot’s plans through the robot Hinebot: apparently Tomomot’s messages cause interference with the robot’s electronic brain and can be partially intercepted. From what he can glean from Tomomot’s messages, Tonnan deduces a date and place and sends the two response teams to that place and time, completely unaware that one of the two is made up of Raiders in disguise.

Like other series of the Time Bokan genre, the Otasukeman vehicles were also made and cared for in every detail by Takatoku. Of the various series, they are the easiest and least expensive to find. Except for the Golden Box which is rare and expensive.
