VOLTES V – La Rivoluzione contro Boazan

Ambientata nel mezzo di un conflitto interstellare, la serie segue le gesta dei cinque piloti del Vultus V nella difesa della Terra dall’impero di Boazan. Caratterizzata da una trama matura che intreccia rivoluzione sociale e legami di sangue, la storia culmina con la scoperta delle origini boazane dei fratelli protagonisti e la caduta del tiranno Zambazir.

I giocattoli della serie sono tra i più amati dai collezionisti. La POPY ha prodotto il robot in versione Standard (GA-80) e nella celebre versione Deluxe (DX), interamente scomponibile nei cinque veicoli (PB-04 fino a PB-08). Quest’ultima è stata distribuita anche nella prestigiosa linea Godaikin. Notevole anche la base Big Falcon (PB-09), che completa una delle produzioni diecast più imponenti degli anni ’70.


VOLTES V – 40 PUNTATE – 1978
In un pianeta simile alla Terra, Boazan, vivono degli umanoidi altrettanto simili ai terrestri, con l’unica differenza di avere le corna. Secondo le leggi dei Boaziani, chi non possiede le corna può venire usato come schiavo; la loro società presenta infatti questo e altri elementi relativamente arretrati, nonostante posseggano una tecnologia molto avanzata: i vestiti e gli ambienti ricordano quelli della rivoluzione francese, ci sono spade, nobili, eccetera. Il fatto che Tadao Nagahama diresse i primi episodi di La rosa di Versailles (Versailles no bara più conosciuto come Lady Oscar, in Italia), ha fatto supporre che la storia di Vultus V, col tema della popolazione schiavizzata che si solleva contro un’aristocrazia, fosse influenzato dalle precedenti ricerche di Nagahama sulla rivoluzione francese. Sul pianeta Boazan si sta decidendo il successore dell’imperatore: l’erede è troppo debole, restano perciò il fratello minore, Kentarus, e il figlio della cortigiana preferita dell’imperatore, Zambazir. Zambazir scopre che il dott. Kentarus, sebbene figlio dell’imperatore, ha in realtà corna artificiali e dunque lo fa imprigionare. L’imperatore Zambazir, dopo la nomina, inizia una politica di invasione di altri pianeti, Terra inclusa. Kentarus invece, che ha sempre avuto dubbi sulle leggi discriminatorie del suo pianeta, si ritrova anch’egli fra gli schiavi: sfruttando le sue conoscenze scientifiche, crea armi di fortuna e organizza una rivolta, ma le forze dell’esercito sono superiori e la sommossa viene soffocata. Nel frattempo scopre che sua moglie è morta, dando alla luce un figlio. Il professore, con la speranza di poter organizzare una nuova rivolta contro l’imperatore Zambazir, fugge da Boazan. Raggiunta la Terra, si innamora della dottoressa Annabelle, dalla quale ha altri tre figli: Michel, Ivan e Carl. Kentarus insieme alla moglie Annabelle, al dottor Esperus (che morirà in un combattimento e sostituito dal dottor Barion) e al comandante Okanin, costruisce la base di Big Falcon e il robot gigante Vultus 5. I cinque piloti che lo guidano sono: •Michel, abile nelle armi, primo figlio di Kentarus avuto con Annabelle •Ivan, maestro nell’arte del bo, figlio di Kentarus •Carl, un esperto subacqueo, anche lui figlio di Kentarus •Gepi, abile con la frusta e nel rodeo •Sonya, figlia del comandante Okanin ed esperta nelle arti ninja. Dopo vari combattimenti e un potenziamento, alla fine il Vultus riesce a sconfiggere la base terrestre boazana, comandata dal principe Sirius. Il dottor Kentarus rifugiatosi tempo prima sulla terra costruisce una potente astronave, l’Uccello solare che combinata con Big Falcon può raggiungere in poco tempo il pianeta Boazan, grazie alla curvatura spaziale. Gli eroi raggiungono Boazan, e un proclama via radio dà il via alla rivolta degli schiavi che si riversano nelle strade. Nell’ultima puntata, il principe Sirius scopre di essere uno dei figli di Kentaurus, comprendendo dunque perché da piccolo venisse preso di mira dagli altri. Zambazir invece si dimostrerà un codardo e poi, anche di fronte all’evidenza, non saprà riconoscere la propria sconfitta. Zambazir con in mano una granata per minacciare i terrestri, viene ucciso da Sirius, che gli lancia un pugnale, e dalla stessa granata che gli cade ai piedi. Dal simbolo posto sul manico del pugnale, Sirius scopre di essere il fratellastro di Michael e degli altri, capendo anche perché avesse avuto un’infanzia terribile. Compreso ciò, Sirus fa scudo col proprio corpo a Michel, per proteggerlo dall’esplosione, ma poco dopo il terreno cede, separandoli: Michel incita Sirus a salvarsi, ma lui si lascia sparire in lacrime fra le fiamme. La guerra giunge al termine: Kentarus diventa il leader del pianeta Boazan, mentre Vultus viene dotato del meccanismo che gli permette di compiere il balzo spaziale verso la Terra. Il Big Falcon-Uccello Solare e Vultus V fanno ritorno sulla Terra, che si avvia verso un lungo periodo di pace.

Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla ditta POPY .e nella linea GODAIKIN

I toys della serie Vultus V sono molto amati e ricercati. Popy ha riprodotto il robot in versione standard e nella maestosa versione deluxe scomponibile e trasformabile come nel cartone animato. La versione deluxe è stata venduta anche nella linea Godaikin mentre la versione standard è stata inclusa nella linea Shogun Warriors.

E’ la base dei protagonisti. La base in realtà risultera essere una gigantesca astronave che verso la fine della serie riuscirà ad essere decisiva nella battaglia finale contro i Boazani.

Michael

È il capo della squadra Voltes V .Ottimo tiratore e campione di motocross. E’ il maggiore dei tre fratelli. Era un bambino molto spensierato, ma la scomparsa di suo padre lo ha cambiato . Divenne più responsabile , prendendosi cura dei suoi fratelli più piccoli e per le persone che dipendevano da lui . La sua uniforme è rossa . Pilota Volt Cruiser.

Gepi

Un campione di rodeo , rimasto orfano quando era ancora un ragazzino . Sua madre morì cercando di salvarlo da un branco di lupi . Dopo la morte di sua madre , è cresciuto schivo vivendo in disparte . Ha imparato a vivere per le strade ed eseguire lavori saltuari . Questo tipo di vita ha rafforzato la sua personalità. E’ il pilota del Volt Bonber.

Ivan

E’ Il più forte del gruppo, Inizialmente molto allegro e scherzoso, si chiuse in se stesso dopo la scomparsa del padre. Fu mandato per tanto dalla madre a vivere nel paese in cui un maestro di arti marziali gli ha insegnato diversi stili di combattimento e le forme di meditazione, ritornando più saggio e sicuro di se, anche se tende ad accettare ciecamente gli ordini che riceve dal fratello Michael senza quasi mai metterli in discussione..

Karl

È un genio nell’inventare automi . espertissimo di meccanica e robotica è considerato un genio da molti professori universitari . E’ il più piccolo dei 3 fratelli e vede Michael come un padre da seguire ed ascoltare sempre.

Sonya

È una kunoichi ( ninja femmina) e 18 esima erede dei ninja Koga -Ryu . Ha ricevuto una formazione speciale durante la sua infanzia . Già all’età di 13 anni, già possedeva abilità e riflessi fulminei straordinari . Ha anche imparato però le arti dolci da sua madre . E’ il membro più calmo del gruppo e molto spesso tranqullizza gli animi e riporta l’armonia in caso di feroci discussioni, soprattutto tra Michel e Gepi.

Dr. Kentarus

Padre di Michael, Ivan e Karl, ritenuto morto, si scoprirà durante l’anime in realtà in vita e il leader della resistenza contro l’Imperatore Zambazir. Si unirà ai protagonisti nella difficile guerra contro i Boazani.

Boazani

Popolo alieno, hanno sembianze umane con la differenza di possedere delle corna sulla testa. Questo è infatti un segno distintivo che identifica la casta regnante rispetto agli schiavi (provenienti per lo più dai pianeti conquistati). Mirano al dominio assoluto dell’universo ed in particolare della Terra, ritenuto il pianeta più idoneo da conquistare per le innumerevoli risorse di cui dispone.

Sirius

E’ il comandate in capo delle forze di invasione Boazane, Si scontrerà molte volte con Michel e nel loro ultimo duello scopre che il suo acerrimo nemico Michel è in realtà suo fratello.

Catherine

Consigliera di Sirius, ottima stratega, è segretamente innamorata di lui arrivando a morire per difenderlo.

Generale Gael

Generale delle forze di attacco Boazane. Dirige le operazioni di battaglia.e spesso pilota i robot guerriri coltro il Vultus.

VOLTES V – The Revolution Against Boazan

Set amidst an interstellar conflict, the series follows the five pilots of Voltes V as they defend Earth from the Boazan Empire. Featuring a mature plot that weaves social revolution with family ties, the story culminates in the discovery of the protagonists’ Boazanian origins and the downfall of the tyrant Zambazir.

The toys from this series are among the most beloved by collectors. POPY produced the robot in a Standard version (GA-80) and the famous Deluxe (DX) version, which fully separates into five vehicles (PB-04 through PB-08). The latter was also released under the prestigious Godaikin brand. Also noteworthy is the Big Falcon (PB-09) base, completing one of the most impressive diecast lineups of the 1970s.

On a planet similar to Earth, Boazan, live humanoids just as similar to Earthlings, with the only difference being that they have horns. According to the laws of the Boazians, those who do not have horns can be used as slaves; their society in fact presents this and other relatively backward elements, despite having very advanced technology: the clothes and environments recall those of the French Revolution, there are swords, nobles, etc. The fact that Tadao Nagahama directed the first episodes of The Rose of Versailles (Versailles no bara, better known as Lady Oscar in Italy), has led to the assumption that the story of Vultus V, with its theme of an enslaved population rising up against an aristocracy, was influenced by Nagahama’s previous research on the French Revolution. On the planet Boazan, the emperor’s successor is being decided: the heir is too weak, so his younger brother, Kentarus, and the son of the emperor’s favorite courtesan, Zambazir, remain. Zambazir discovers that Dr. Kentarus, although the emperor’s son, actually has artificial horns and therefore has him imprisoned. Emperor Zambazir, after the nomination, begins a policy of invading other planets, including Earth. Kentarus, who has always had doubts about the discriminatory laws of his planet, also finds himself among the slaves: using his scientific knowledge, he creates makeshift weapons and organizes a revolt, but the army’s forces are superior and the revolt is crushed. In the meantime, he discovers that his wife has died, giving birth to a son. The professor, hoping to organize a new revolt against Emperor Zambazir, flees from Boazan. Upon reaching Earth, he falls in love with Dr. Annabelle, with whom he has three more children: Michel, Ivan and Carl. Kentarus, together with his wife Annabelle, Doctor Esperus (who will die in combat and be replaced by Doctor Barion) and Commander Okanin, builds the Big Falcon base and the giant robot Vultus 5. Understanding this, Sirus shields Michel with his body, to protect him from the explosion, but shortly after the ground gives way, separating them: Michel urges Sirus to save himself, but he lets himself disappear in tears in the flames. The war comes to an end: Kentarus becomes the leader of the planet Boazan, while Vultus is equipped with the mechanism that allows him to make the space leap towards Earth. The Big Falcon-Solar Bird and Vultus V return to Earth, which is headed for a long period of peace.

The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the POPY .and in the GODAIKIN line

The toys of the Vultus V series are very loved and sought after. Popy has reproduced the robot in the standard version and in the majestic deluxe version that can be dismantled and transformed as in the cartoon. The deluxe version was also sold in the Godaikin line while the standard version was included in the Shogun Warriors line.

It is the base of the protagonists. The base will actually turn out to be a gigantic spaceship that towards the end of the series will be able to be decisive in the final battle against the Boazani.

Michael

He is the leader of the Voltes V team. Excellent shooter and motocross champion. He is the eldest of three brothers. He was a very carefree child, but the disappearance of his father changed him. He became more responsible, taking care of his younger brothers and the people who depended on him. His uniform is red. Volt Cruiser pilot.

Gepi

A champion rodeo rider, orphaned when he was a young boy. His mother died trying to save him from a pack of wolves. After his mother’s death, he grew up a shy, lonely man. He learned to live on the streets and do odd jobs. This life has strengthened his personality. He is the pilot of the Volt Bonber.

Ivan

He is the strongest of the group, initially very cheerful and playful, he closed himself off after his father’s disappearance. He was therefore sent by his mother to live in the country where a martial arts master taught him different fighting styles and forms of meditation, returning wiser and more self-confident, even if he tends to blindly accept the orders he receives from his brother Michael without almost ever questioning them.

Karl

He is a genius in inventing automatons. A great expert in mechanics and robotics, he is considered a genius by many university professors. He is the youngest of 3 brothers and sees Michael as a father to follow and always listen to.

Sonya

She is a kunoichi (female ninja) and the 18th heir of the Koga-Ryu ninja. She received special training during her childhood. Already at the age of 13, she already possessed extraordinary skills and lightning-fast reflexes. However, she also learned the soft arts from her mother. She is the calmest member of the group and very often calms the spirits and restores harmony in the case of fierce arguments, especially between Michel and Gepi.

Dr. Kentarus

Father of Michael, Ivan and Karl, believed to be dead, will be discovered during the anime in reality alive and the leader of the resistance against Emperor Zambazir. He will join the protagonists in the difficult war against the Boazani.

Boazans

Alien people, they have human features with the difference of having horns on their heads. This is in fact a distinctive sign that identifies the ruling caste compared to the slaves (mostly coming from conquered planets). They aim for the absolute domination of the universe and in particular of the Earth, considered the most suitable planet to conquer for the innumerable resources it has.

Sirius

He is the commander in chief of the Boazane invasion forces. He will clash many times with Michel and in their last duel he discovers that his bitter enemy Michel is actually his brother.
