Car Change Machine: I Trasformabili “2-Type” di Popy
Prodotti da Popy nei primi anni ’80, i Car Change Machine rappresentano una serie di nicchia composta da soli due modelli trasformabili: la Mazda Savanna RX-7 e la Honda City Turbo. Questi giocattoli univano il realismo delle automobili dell’epoca alla capacità di mutare in robot, distinguendosi per un design pulito ed efficace.
Nel mercato del collezionismo, questi pezzi sono ricercati per la loro rarità e per i particolari accessori. Entrambi i modelli erano dotati di un cannoncino frontale in grado di lanciare piccoli missili a molla, componenti che oggi rappresentano la parte più difficile da trovare integra. I pezzi più rari e costosi sono quelli che conservano la dotazione completa dei missili originali e le decalcomanie intatte, rendendoli un “must” per chi colleziona le prime sperimentazioni della Popy nel campo dei robot trasformabili.

Popy ha commercializzato 2 macchine diecast trasformabili (berlina/ambulanza e berlina/auto dei pompieri). Le dinamiche di trasformazione sono state sfruttate per realizzare la Tiger Hurricane (PC25) la mitica auto trasfotmbile dell’Uomo Tigre 2. Le auto sono molto simili infatti tra di loro. Non sono quindi tratte da nessuna serie in particolare. |

Diecast ben realizzati ma sostanzialmente sono un doppione della Tiger Huricane (PC25). Non sono particolaremente ricercati.

Car Change Machine: Popy’s “2-Type” Transformers
Produced by Popy in the early 1980s, the Car Change Machine line is a rare series consisting of only two transforming models: the Mazda Savanna RX-7 and the Honda City Turbo. These toys blended realistic vehicle styling with robot transformation, showcasing Popy’s innovative approach during the dawn of the transforming toy era.
In the vintage market, these items are highly collectible due to their unique features. Each model came equipped with a front-mounted cannon designed to fire small plastic missiles. Finding these pieces with their original missiles intact is extremely difficult, significantly increasing their value. The most expensive and sought-after specimens are those in Mint in Box (MIB) condition with a full missile count, representing a key milestone in Popy’s history of transforming mechanics.

Popy has marketed 2 transformable diecast cars (sedan/ambulance and sedan/fire engine). The transformation dynamics have been exploited to create the Tiger Hurricane (PC25) the legendary transformable car of Tiger Man 2. The cars are in fact very similar to each other. They are therefore not taken from any series in particular. |
