Dunbine: L’eredità diecast della Clover
Prodotta nel 1983 da Yoshiyuki Tomino, Dunbine ha segnato l’unione tra il genere robotico e il fantasy epico. Gli Aura Battler, ispirati al mondo degli insetti, rappresentano una delle vette creative del mecha design degli anni ’80.
Nel collezionismo vintage, il marchio di riferimento è Clover. I modelli, come il noto Dunbine 1/46 e le versioni DX, sono apprezzati per la solidità del metallo e le caratteristiche ali trasparenti. | DUNBINE-39 PUNTATE – 1983 |
La serie è ambientata in un mondo medievale chiamato Byston Well, somigliante all’Europa medievale. La serie segue le vicende del protagonista Sho Zama, che di colpo, dopo un incidente in motocross, viene catapultato nel mondo di Byston Well. Esso si trova in un’altra dimensione situata tra la Terra e il mare ed è un luogo pieno di draghi, castelli, cavalieri e di potenti robot chiamati Aura Battler. Quando si scopre che l'”aura” di Sho è davvero forte, egli è lanciato nel conflitto che dilaga a Byston Well come il pilota del robot viola Dunbine. L’aura è un aspetto molto ricorrente perchè rappresenta l’energia vitale degli esseri umani oltre che la fonte di energia per le Aura Machine. Le capacità delle Aura Machine aumentano in base all’ampiezza del potere dell’Aura del pilota. Ciò è dovuto al fatto che esse vengono controllate dal potere dell’Aura. Anche unità che presentano caratteristiche inferiori rispetto alla media, se vengono pilotate da sacri guerrieri dotati di uno smisurato potere dell’Aura manifestano capacità fuori dal comune. Al contrario, un Aura Battler dalle alte potenzialità se messo in mano ad un sacro guerriero mediocre non mostrerà nemmeno tutte le sue funzionalità di base. E inoltre, sulla Terra le capacità delle aura machine e il potere distruttivo delle loro armi aumentano sensibilmente. Su byston well tali potenzialità sono ridotte. |

Anime poco conosciuto, i modelli non sono particolarmente accattivanti e sono poco ricercati.

Sho Zama
Sho è il giovane protagonista della serie. Una notte, mentre guidava la sua moto, venne portato a Byston Well per servire il signore regionale Drake Luft come pilota di mecha. Scopre presto i motivi malvagi di Luft, e decide di cambiare posizione, per unirsi ai Nie Given ed alla resistenza contro i militari di Luft. .
Marvel Frozen
Una donna attraente, anche Marvel venne portata a Byston Well per combattere dalla parte di Drake Luft, ma passa successivamente dalla parte di Nie Given. Le sue abilità di combattimento sono alla pari con Sho, tranne che riguardo all’aura.
Cham Fau
Cham è una giovane e piccola fata. E’ la “mentore” di Sho, lo aiuta ad ambientarsi e capire il mondo dove è capitato e lo consiglia in battaglia.

Con questo termine si intende una delle specie di Aura Machine esistenti. Si tratta di robot antropomorfi da combattimento azionati dall’energia spirituale delle persone definito potere dell’Aura. Essi sono stati sviluppati da Shot Weapon, ingegnere di robotica evocato da Drake Luft, feudatario del regno che brama il dominio dell’intera Byston Well. A differenza dei robot presenti nei normali anime robotici, le corazze e i sistemi di comandi degli Aura Battler vengono creati sfruttando i tessuti muscolari e gli esoscheletri delle gigantesche bestie che popolano Byston Well. Dunbine è il nome del robot pilotato dal protagonista. |

Dunbine: The Aura Battler of Byston Well – The Clover Diecast Legacy
Aired in 1983, Dunbine is a masterpiece by Yoshiyuki Tomino that combined giant robots with high fantasy. The Aura Battlers, with their insect-like biology, remain some of the most distinctive mecha designs of the era.
The vintage toy line was produced by Clover. Their figures, especially the 1/46 scale Dunbine and DX versions, are valued for their diecast parts and delicate translucent wings. Finding a Clover original in Mint in Box (MIB) condition with all accessories is a classic milestone for collectors, as these were among the last toys released by the company. They stand as key pieces for enthusiasts of 1980s fantasy-mecha.

The series is set in a medieval world called Byston Well, which resembles medieval Europe. The series follows the protagonist Sho Zama, who is suddenly catapulted into the world of Byston Well after a motocross accident. It is located in another dimension between the Earth and the sea and is a place filled with dragons, castles, knights, and powerful robots called Aura Battlers. When Sho’s “aura” is discovered to be very strong, he is thrown into the conflict raging in Byston Well as the pilot of the purple robot Dunbine. Aura is a very recurring aspect because it represents the life energy of humans as well as the source of energy for Aura Machines. The capabilities of Aura Machines increase based on the extent of the pilot’s Aura power. This is due to the fact that they are controlled by the power of Aura. Even units with lower than average characteristics, if piloted by holy warriors with immense Aura power, will display extraordinary capabilities. On the contrary, a high potential Aura Battler in the hands of a mediocre Holy Warrior will not even show all its basic functions. And furthermore, on Earth the capabilities of the Aura Machines and the destructive power of their weapons increase significantly. On Byston Well such potential is reduced. |
The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the CLOVER .
Little known anime, the models are not particularly attractive and are not very sought after.
Currently the company’s diecasts CLOVER have not yet been catalogued in the Diecast Encyclopedia. The volume is in progress.
Sho Zama
Sho is the young protagonist of the series. One night, while riding his motorbike, he was taken to Byston Well to serve the regional lord Drake Luft as a mecha pilot. He soon discovers Luft’s evil motives, and decides to change sides, to join the Nie Given and the resistance against Luft’s military. .
Marvel Frozen
An attractive woman, Marvel was also brought to Byston Well to fight on Drake Luft’s side, but later switches sides with Nie Given. Her fighting skills are on par with Sho’s, except for her aura .
Cham Fau
Cham is a young and small fairy. She is Sho’s “mentor”, she helps him to settle in and understand the world where he ended up and advises him in battle.

This term refers to one of the existing species of Aura Machines. These are anthropomorphic combat robots powered by people’s spiritual energy, called Aura power. They were developed by Shot Weapon, a robotics engineer summoned by Drake Luft, a feudal lord of the kingdom who desires dominion over the entire Byston Well. Unlike the robots present in normal robot anime, the armor and control systems of the Aura Battlers are created using the muscle tissue and exoskeletons of the gigantic beasts that populate Byston Well. Dunbine is the name of the robot piloted by the protagonist. |
