General Daimos: Il Karateka d’Acciaio

General Daimos non è solo un robot, è un’icona che unisce la potenza delle arti marziali al fascino dei grandi trasformabili anni ’70.

Il panorama diecast dedicato a Daimos è dominato dalla Popy con i leggendari modelli GA-84 (ST) e il monumentale GA-85 (DX). Quest’ultimo, con la sua incredibile capacità di trasformarsi nell’autotreno Tranzer, rimane uno dei pezzi più ambiti e tecnologicamente avanzati della linea Chogokin. Tra metallo pesante, accessori cromati e un design senza tempo, Daimos è un pilastro fondamentale per ogni archivio dedicato ai giganti d’acciaio nipponici.

In questa sezione di Robot Vintage, riscopriamo i dettagli tecnici e il valore storico dei modelli dedicati al difensore della Terra.


*DAIMOS – GENERAL DAIMOS* – 44. PUNTATE – 1979**
il pianeta Baam è prossimo alla distruzione, così 200 milioni di Baamesi, umanoidi dotati di ali come gli angeli, vengono ospitati su un grosso satellite (il “piccolo Baam”) alla ricerca di un pianeta ospitale che ne garantisca la salvezza. La Terra viene reputata adatta ad ospitare gli alieni e viene organizzato un incontro sulla Luna fra i rappresentanti della Terra e il re dei Baamesi, ma quest’ultimo viene avvelenato apparentemente dai terrestri (poi si scoprirà che era stato un ministro di Baam contrario alla pacifica convivenza) per reazione suo figlio Rikiter cercherà di uccidere il capo della delegazione terrestre (il padre di Kasuya) e crederà di averlo fatto nonostante sua sorella Erika avesse deviato il colpo (ma si scoprirà alla negli episodi finali che era stato sempre il ministro baamese). Da questo episodio scaturirà l’odio di Rikiter, per i terrestri che contro i quali muoverà una potente offensiva bellica. La storia inizia col rientro di Kazuya da una missione nello spazio durata due anni. Un mostro guerriero di Baam mette in pericolo le forze terrestri e il ragazzo viene inserito a forza nel Daimos costruito da suo padre in vista di una simile evenienza, per distruggere il mostro. Durante il primo combattimento Kazuya trova Erika, una ragazza baamese che a causa di un trauma ha perso la memoria. È un colpo di fulmine per entrambi, ma il loro amore – vero fulcro della narrazione- verrà ostacolato dal fatto che Erika è la sorella di Rikiter. La storia si snoda in vari combattimenti in cui da uno schema iniziale terrestri contro baamesi si passa a uno più complesso: ci sono terrestri (come lo scienziato del New Gearland) che cercano la pace anche in collaborazione con baamesi (e con il loro centro Barandouk dove lavorano per la pace baamesi e terrestri), ce ne sono altri come il comandante Miva che si rivelano sempre più crudeli contro i baamesi, ma anche con i terrestri se questo può dare successo in una battaglia. Lo stesso per i baamesi tra i quali alcuni come Erika lottano per la pace e altri tramano per la guerra e sono i veri responsabili del suo inizio. Il generale Balbas, Rikiter, Lisa durante la storia passeranno dalla parte dei ribelli mentre appariranno altri seguaci di Olban, incaricati tra l’altro di uccidere lo stesso Rikiter. La storia si conclude quando in seguito alla distruzione della base terrestre sottomarina dei baamesi il centro Daimovic (nel frattempo trasformatosi in astronave) e Daimos vanno direttamente sul piccolo Baam a liberare la base spaziale dalla tirannia di Olbam. Il Generale Balbas e Lisa perderanno la vita nello contro contro il tiranno, mentre Rikiter assisterà alla sua sconfitta. Prima di morire, però, Olbam annuncia che non si godranno la vittoria perché ha preparato la collisione tra un corpo celeste e la Terra. A quel punto sarà proprio Rikiter che, per riscattarsi dall’aver massacrato gente innocente, salverà la Terra sacrificandosi per fermare la collisione. Così, finalmente Kazuya ed Erica potranno sposarsi, inaugurando un nuovo periodo di pace.

Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla ditta POPY e nella linea

La realizzazione dei diecast della serie fu affidata alla ditta Popy. Furono realizzati 2 modelli del robot (uno standard e una versione deluxe trasformabile) il Tranzer in modalità solo camion, la base spaziale e l’auto pilotata dal protagonista. La versione deluxe fu venduta anche all’interno della linea Godaikin qualche anno dopo.

DAIMOS

Robot pilotato da Kazuya , si muove utilizzando un sistema che simula i movimenti del pilota , ciò facilita soprattutto Kazuya in combattimento essendo lui un grande esperto di karate. Prima di entrare in battaglia, Daimos è in modalità tranzor ed è lanciato dall’interno di una grotta.

Successivamente viene anche attivato da Kazuya quando con la sua Tryper 75S entra attraverso uno sportello posteriore all’interno del robot posizionandosi poi nella cabina di comando.Daimos è in grado di trasformarsi in un enorme truck, è la modalità utlizzata per gli spostamenti verso il campo di battaglia e quando il robot è all’interno della base.

Kazuya

Pilota della Daimos e eroe della serie , è stato allevato da Izumi dopo la morte della madre . Si innamora di Erika nonostante sia una aliena, combatte per riportare la pace e per poter vivere serenamente con lei. E ‘ una cintura nera di karate e grazie alla sua grande forza di volontà riesce sempre ad uscire vittorioso da battaglie molto cruente e difficili.

Erika

La principessa di Baam, sorella di Richter. A causa di un incidente spaziale, precipita sulla Terra a bordo di una navicella spaziale in fiamme, perdendo la memoria temporaneamente. Kazuya la trova incosciente dopo la sua prima battaglia contro un robot invasore e da quel momento si innamora di lei, inconsapevole del fatto che sia una aliena . Quando riacquista la memoria è combattuta se tradire il suo popolo oppure rinunciare al suo amore con Kazuya.

Hiroki Waiany

Amico di Kazuya con i capelli stile afro marrone scuro , è il pilota principale del caccia a reazione Galva FX – II . Oltre ad essere un pilota di caccia è anche un abile spadaccino che prende la guerra contro gli Baams molto sul serio.

Baamesi

Razza aliena alata proveniente dal pianeta Baam. Quando il loro pianeta rischia la distruzione a causa dell’attrazione gravitazionale di un altro pianeta,i loro scienziati costruirono un satellite arificiale facendo salire a bordo dieci miliardi di Baamesi che una volta ibernati partono verso l’ignoto alla ricerca di un pianeta vivibile. Dopo un lungo viaggio arrivarono nel sistema solare scoprendo la Terra ritenendola adatta allo scopo.

Un ammiraglio crudele e principe del suo popolo. Nutre in profondo odio contro tutti i terrestri a causa della morte del padre. Ha l’ossessione di conquistare la Terra per renderla la nuova casa per il suo popolo .Odia Kazuya per l’amore che Erika prova nei suoi confronti,

The Earth is deemed suitable to host the aliens and a meeting is organized on the Moon between the representatives of the Earth and the king of the Baamese, but the latter is apparently poisoned by the Earthlings (it will later be discovered that he had been a minister of Baam against peaceful coexistence) as a reaction his son Rikiter will try to kill the head of the Earth delegation (Kasuya’s father) and will believe he has done so despite his sister Erika having deflected the blow (but it will be discovered in the final episodes that it was always the Baamese minister). From this episode will arise Rikiter’s hatred for the Earthlings against whom he will move a powerful war offensive. The story begins with Kazuya returning from a two-year space mission. A Baam warrior monster threatens the Earth forces and the boy is forcibly inserted into the Daimos built by his father for such an eventuality, to destroy the monster. During the first fight Kazuya finds Erika, a Baamese girl who has lost her memory due to trauma. It is love at first sight for both of them, but their love – the true fulcrum of the narrative – will be hindered by the fact that Erika is Rikiter’s sister. General Balbas and Lisa will lose their lives in the fight against the tyrant, while Rikiter will witness his defeat. Before dying, however, Olbam announces that they will not enjoy the victory because he has prepared the collision between a celestial body and the Earth. At that point it will be Rikiter who, to redeem himself from having massacred innocent people, will save the Earth by sacrificing himself to stop the collision. Thus, Kazuya and Erica will finally be able to get married, inaugurating a new period of peace.

The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the POPY and in the line

The production of the diecast series was entrusted to the company Popy. 2 models of the robot were made (a standard one and a transformable deluxe version) the Tranzer in truck only mode, the space base and the car driven by the protagonist. The deluxe version was also sold within the Godaikin line a few years later.

All the cards of the various diecast models made are mainly available in the First book but also in the Second book of the encyclopedia and online for the Premium Users

DAIMOS

Robot piloted by Kazuya, it moves using a system that simulates the pilot’s movements, which especially helps Kazuya in combat since he is a great expert in karate. Before entering battle, Daimos is in tranzor mode and is launched from inside a cave.

It is later also activated by Kazuya when he enters the robot through a rear door with his Tryper 75S and positions himself in the control cabin. Daimos is able to transform into a huge truck, this is the mode used for moving towards the battlefield and when the robot is inside the base.

Kazuya

Pilot of the Daimos and hero of the series, he was raised by Izumi after the death of his mother. He falls in love with Erika despite being an alien, he fights to restore peace and to be able to live peacefully with her. He is a black belt in karate and thanks to his great willpower he always manages to emerge victorious from very bloody and difficult battles.

Erika

The Princess of Baam, Richter’s sister. Due to a space accident, she crashes to Earth aboard a burning spaceship, temporarily losing her memory. Kazuya finds her unconscious after her first battle against an invading robot and from that moment he falls in love with her, unaware that she is an alien. When she regains her memory, she is torn between betraying her people or giving up her love with Kazuya.

Hiroki Waiany

A friend of Kazuya with dark brown afro-style hair, he is the lead pilot of the Galva FX-II jet fighter. In addition to being a fighter pilot, he is also a skilled swordsman who takes the war against the Baams very seriously.

Baamese

Winged alien race from the planet Baam. When their planet is at risk of destruction due to the gravitational pull of another planet, their scientists built an artificial satellite taking on board ten billion Baamsi who, once hibernated, set off towards the unknown in search of a habitable planet. After a long journey they arrived in the solar system discovering Earth, considering it suitable for the purpose.

Richter

A cruel admiral and prince of his people. He has a deep hatred towards all earthlings because of his father’s death. He is obsessed with conquering Earth to make it the new home for his people. He hates Kazuya because of Erika’s love for him,
