Mekander Robot: La Sfida dei Tre Minuti
Nell’anno 2019, la Terra è quasi interamente conquistata dai Conghisti, alieni provenienti dal pianeta Ganimede. Solo il Giappone resiste grazie al Professor Shikishima e al suo Mechander Robot. Il robot è nascosto sotto uno stadio di baseball per sfuggire ai satelliti alieni che lanciano le letali “Bombe Omega” non appena rilevano energia nucleare. Per questo motivo, il Mechander può combattere solo per tre minuti prima di essere distrutto. Il protagonista, Jimi Orion, è un alieno figlio della regina di un pianeta schiavizzato, inviato sulla Terra per combattere gli invasori.
Il merchandising diecast di questa serie è stato realizzato dalla ditta Bullmark. Sebbene l’anime non ebbe un successo clamoroso all’epoca, i suoi giocattoli sono oggi tra i più rari e costosi del mercato vintage. Il Mekander Deluxe (Gasshin) è un vero “sacro graal” per i collezionisti: un esemplare completo in scatola singola può superare i 10.000 euro. L’archivio di Robot Vintage documenta l’intera linea Bullmark, che comprende anche il Mekander ST, i veicoli Mecha Jet e la serie Technical Car, tutti pezzi caratterizzati da un fascino meccanico unico.

| MEKANDER – 35 PUNTATE – 1977 |
La storia narra di un enorme robot costruito dall’anziano scienziato Juzo Kabuto e lasciato in eredità, alla sua morte, al nipote adolescente Koji Kabuto (in Italia Ryo in questa serie, poi Koji nel Grande Mechander Robot (in lingua giapponese Gasshin Sentai Mekandaa Robot-Mekander robot, ossia il gruppo combattente dall’aggancio corporeo) è un anime televisivo giapponese prodotto nel 1977 dalla Wako Production e composto da 35 episodi. Nell’anno 2019 la Terra è invasa dal popolo dei Conghisti, provenienti dal pianeta Ganimede. Il 95% del territorio è conquistato dagli alieni e solo il Giappone oppone ancora resistenza, infatti il prof. Shikishima costruisce il robot Mechander per combattere la minaccia aliena. Questo robot è custodito in una base sotterranea (una enorme portaerei, la King Diamond), al di sotto di uno stadio di baseball (il Mechander “esce” dallo spazio sottostante le tribune) perché i Conghisti hanno delle bombe Omega che vengono lanciate da un satellite non appena avvertono energia nucleare. Perciò, quando il Mechander combatte, ha solo tre minuti di tempo prima di essere distrutto dalla bomba. |

Serie che riscosse poco successo, i diritti vennero acquisiti dalla Bullmark. Quasi tutti i modelli sono molto costosi e abbastanza rari (tranne il Mekander St). Il Mekander Deluxe (o Gasshin come chiamava Bullmark i suoi pezzi di maggior prestigio) è ad oggi uno dei robot più costosi. Completo ed in box singolo supera i 10.000 euro…

Il robot pilotato dai protagonisti, ciascuno dei quali guida un velivolo diverso (Mecha Jet). I tre veicoli possono unirsi e formare il Mecha Max che costituisce la navicella di comando del Mekander e si aggancia ad esso sulla schiena del robot tramite una specie di pista d’atterraggio. Circa a metà della serie, il robot Mechander viene totalmente distrutto e viene ricostruito come quattro navi che si assemblano per formare il robot prima di agganciarsi con il Mecha Max. |

Protagonista della serie, è un alieno figlio della regina medusa, Resa schiava e trasformata in umanoide dalterribile Hedron, riesce prima di perdere la memoria a mandare il figlio sulla terra attraverso una capsula spaziale.

Soldati che compongono l’esercito Conghista. Originariamente erano gli abitanti del pianeta Ganimede neutralizzati da Edron con dei gas asfissianti e trasformati in schiavi umanoidi.
Mekander Robot: The Three-Minute Challenge
In the year 2019, Earth is almost entirely conquered by the Conghists, aliens from the planet Ganymede. Only Japan resists thanks to Professor Shikishima and his Mechander Robot. The robot is hidden beneath a baseball stadium to evade alien satellites that launch lethal “Omega Bombs” as soon as they detect nuclear energy. Consequently, the Mechander can only fight for three minutes before being destroyed. The protagonist, Jimi Orion, is an alien son of the queen of an enslaved planet, sent to Earth to battle the invaders.
The diecast merchandising for this series was produced by the Bullmark company. Although the anime did not achieve massive success at the time, its toys are now among the rarest and most expensive in the vintage market. The Mekander Deluxe (Gasshin) is a true “holy grail” for collectors: a complete specimen in its original box can exceed 10,000 euros. The Robot Vintage archive documents the entire Bullmark line, which also includes the Mekander ST, the Mecha Jet vehicles, and the Technical Car series, all pieces characterized by a unique mechanical charm.

In the year 2019, Earth is invaded by the Congists, coming from the planet Ganymede. 95% of the territory is conquered by the aliens and only Japan still resists, in fact Prof. Shikishima builds the robot Mechander to fight the alien threat. This robot is kept in an underground base (a huge aircraft carrier, the King Diamond), under a baseball stadium (the Mechander “comes out” from the space below the stands) because the Congists have Omega bombs that are launched from a satellite as soon as they sense nuclear energy. Therefore, when the Mechander fights, it only has three minutes before being destroyed by the bomb. |
The diecast merchandising of the series was produced by the BULLMARK .
Series that had little success, the rights were acquired by Bullmark. Almost all the models are very expensive and quite rare (except the Mekander St). The Mekander Deluxe (or Gasshin as Bullmark called its most prestigious pieces) is one of the most expensive robots to date. Complete and in a single box it exceeds 10,000 euros…

The robot piloted by the protagonists, each of whom pilots a different aircraft (Mecha Jet). The three vehicles can join together to form the Mecha Max which constitutes the command vessel of the Mekander and attaches to it on the robot’s back via a sort of landing strip. About halfway through the series, the Mechander robot is completely destroyed and is rebuilt as four ships that assemble to form the robot before attaching to the Mecha Max. |

Jimi Orion Shikishima
The protagonist of the series is an alien son of Queen Medusa. Enslaved and transformed into a humanoid by the terrifying Hedron, she manages to send her son to Earth in a space capsule before losing her memory.
