Star Blazers: Space Cruiser Yamato
Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato) è una celebre saga sci-fi articolata in tre stagioni. Nella prima, la Terra è sotto l’attacco dei Gamilonesi, che contaminano il pianeta con radiazioni mortali. Per salvare l’umanità, la Regina Starsha di Iscandar offre il “Cosmo DNA”, un dispositivo in grado di ripulire l’atmosfera. L’equipaggio della corazzata spaziale Yamato (Argo), guidato dal Capitano Avatar e dal giovane Derek Wildstar, intraprende un viaggio disperato verso Iscandar. Nelle stagioni successive, la Yamato affronta nuove minacce come l’Impero della Cometa del Principe Zordar e il conflitto tra Galmans e la Federazione Bolar, lottando costantemente per la sopravvivenza del genere umano.
Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalle ditte POPY e Nomura. Entrambe hanno prodotto modelli fedeli della nave in varie dimensioni. Le versioni della Popy, come la Yamato DX (PC-12) e la versione ST (PC-13), risultano generalmente più rare e costose rispetto a quelle prodotte da Nomura (che realizzò modelli in scala 1/850 e 1/1300). Oltre alla nave principale, sono stati riprodotti i caccia Cosmo Zero e Cosmo Tiger, nonché la nave ammiraglia Andromeda, realizzata da Nomura in una versione mini, sensibilmente più piccola rispetto alle altre navi della collezione. Anche il robot di bordo Analyzer è stato trasformato in giocattolo dalla ditta Nomura.

Star Blazers si compone di tre stagioni televisive. Ciascuna è un adattamento del suo omologo giapponese Space Battleship Yamato. Tuttavia, la saga giapponese è più articolate e oltre alle tre stagioni televisive, comprendea che dei lungometraggi che fanno parte integrante della storia e dei suoi sviluppi. Nella prima stagione, la Terra viene attaccata da Gamilon, un pianeta lontano, i crudeli invasori lasciano sulla terra delle bombe radioattive che contaminano irreparabilmente il pianata. Non trovando nessun modo per rimuovere la radiazione, tutta la vita sulla Terra sarà spazzato via nell’arco di un anno. La Terra riceve però un aiuto inaspettato dalla Regina Starsha del pianeta Iscandar, che offre un dispositivo chiamato “Cosmo DNA”, che rimuoverà la radiazione. Tuttavia, dal momento che Iscandar dista 148.000 anni luce Starsha invia anche i piani per costruire un motore a onde Movimento sperimentale che, se costruito, aiuterà a raggiungere il pianata in qualche mese. Sulla Terra viene inserito questo dispositivo in una nave spaziale la Yamato (Argo) viene reclutato un equipaggio e la missione è affidata al capitano Avatar. Inizia così il lungo viaggio verso Iscandar. La seconda stagione inizia un anno dopo il ritorno della nave Argo sulla Terra con il DNA Cosmo, La missione è riuscita e l’ecosistema della Terra è stato ripristinato. Si deve però ora affrontare un nuovo, pericoloso nemico, l’Impero Comet, condato dal principe Zordar. Diversamente Gamilon, che stava cercando di catturare Terra per colonizzarla, Zordar vuole semplicemente conquistare la Terra e aggiungerla al suo impero. Desslok, il leader Gamilon, si unisce con Zordar, soprattutto perché vuole vendicarsi della Argo. La serie ruota attorno alla Argo, ora comandata dal vice capitano Derek Wildstar. Nella terza stagione, la Argo e ‘colto nel bel mezzo di una guerra tra i Galmans (il nuovo impero nato dalle ceneri di Gamilon) e la Federazione Bolar. Un missile vagante sparato durante la guerra provoca reazioni termonucleari e rischia di far aumentare la temperatura del sole, se tale reazione non sarà interrotta il sole distruggerà la Terra in un anno e l’intero sistema solare in tre. Derek Wildstar, ora ufficialmente al comando della Argo, intraprende un nuovo lungo viaggio per cercare una nuova Terra e salvare la razza umana dall’estinzione. |
Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla Popy 
e dalla Numura 
Anime che ha riscosso moltissimo successo, tutt’ora molto amata. La produzione di modelli diecast fu affidata sia a Popy che alla ditta Nomura. Entrambe hanno riprodotto fedelmente la nave in ogni dettaglio ed in varie dimensioni. Sicuramente più rare e costose sono le versioni Popy rispetto a quelle Nomura, dove la sola nave Andromeda è molto rara e costoda da trovare.

Il nome Yamato riprende il nome da una nave da guerra della II Guerra Mondiale realmente esistita. Questa Yamato però è una nave spazialeche dispone si un Motore ad Onde Moventi che ne permette il volo e ha una potenza tale da consentire Balzi Spazali, con cui è possibile spostarsi istantaneamente tra due punti lontanissimi dello spazio grazie alla teoria della curvatura dello spazio. |

Il Comandante della Yamato è un uomo di poche parole, riflessivo e che mantiene la calma anche nelle situazioni più gravi, ma comunque i suoi ordini sono sempre precisi ed efficiaci. Si fida molto del suo equipaggio proprio perchè ne conosce il coraggio e le capacità.

E’ in pratica il vero protagonista della serie, o quantomeno il personaggio più importante. A lui è data la responsabilità e il comando delle azioni di guerra contro i Gamilonesi. Talvolta si impegna in battaglia pilotando un caccia d’assalto, e guidando le azioni del gruppo che prende il nome di Tigri Nere. Dopo la morte di Avatar diventerà il comandante della yamato, anche se non si siederà mai al posto del suo capitano.

GAMILON
I Gamilon sono una razza di alieni dalla pelle blu che esiste nell’universo di Star Blazers. Vivono sul loro mondo natale Gamilon, quando il loro mondo inizia a diventare inospitale, cercano nella vicina galassia della Via Lattea e trovano la Terra. Usando il loro insolito ma efficace metodo di terraformazione, lanciano sulla Terra centinaia di bombe planetarie, piene di radiazioni questo perchè non sono in grado di respirare in atmosfere prevalentemente piene di ossigeno, ma solo in gas permeato di radiazioni.

Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato) is a renowned sci-fi saga divided into three seasons. In the first season, Earth is attacked by the Gamilons, who contaminate the planet with deadly radiation. To save humanity, Queen Starsha of Iscandar offers the “Cosmo DNA,” a device capable of cleaning the atmosphere. The crew of the space battleship Yamato (Argo), led by Captain Avatar and the young Derek Wildstar, embarks on a desperate journey to Iscandar. In subsequent seasons, the Yamato faces new threats such as Prince Zordar’s Comet Empire and the conflict between the Galmans and the Bolar Federation, constantly fighting for the survival of the human race.
The Diecast merchandising for the series was produced by the POPY and Nomura companies. Both created faithful models of the ship in various sizes. Popy versions, such as the Yamato DX (PC-12) and the ST version (PC-13), are generally rarer and more expensive than those produced by Nomura (which made models in 1/850 and 1/1300 scale). In addition to the main ship, the Cosmo Zero and Cosmo Tiger fighters were reproduced, as well as the flagship Andromeda, produced by Nomura in a mini version, significantly smaller compared to the other ships in the collection. The onboard robot Analyzer was also turned into a toy by the Nomura company.

Star Blazers consists of three television seasons. Each is an adaptation of its Japanese counterpart Space Battleship Yamato. However, the Japanese saga is more complex and in addition to the three television seasons, it includes feature films that are an integral part of the story and its developments. In the first season, Earth is attacked by Gamilon, a distant planet, the cruel invaders leave radioactive bombs on Earth that irreparably contaminate the planet. Finding no way to remove the radiation, all life on Earth will be wiped out within a year. However, Earth receives unexpected help from Queen Starsha of the planet Iscandar, who offers a device called “Cosmo DNA”, which will remove the radiation. However, since Iscandar is 148,000 light years away, Starsha also sends plans to build an experimental Motion Wave Engine that, if built, will help reach the planet in a few months. On Earth, this device is inserted into a spaceship called the Yamato (Argo), a crew is recruited and the mission is entrusted to Captain Avatar. Thus begins the long journey to Iscandar. The second season begins one year after the Argo ship returns to Earth with the Cosmo DNA. The mission was successful and Earth’s ecosystem has been restored. However, they must now face a new, dangerous enemy, the Comet Empire, led by Prince Zordar. Unlike Gamilon, who was trying to capture Earth to colonize it, Zordar simply wants to conquer Earth and add it to his empire. Desslok, the Gamilon leader, joins forces with Zordar, mainly because he wants revenge on the Argo. The series revolves around the Argo, now commanded by Vice Captain Derek Wildstar. In the third season, the Argo is caught in the middle of a war between the Galmans (the new empire born from the ashes of Gamilon) and the Bolar Federation. A stray missile fired during the war causes thermonuclear reactions and threatens to raise the temperature of the sun, if this reaction is not stopped the sun will destroy the Earth in a year and the entire solar system in three. Derek Wildstar, now officially in command of the Argo, embarks on a new long journey to find a new Earth and save the human race from extinction. |
The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by Popy nd from Numura
Anime that has had a lot of success, still very loved. The production of diecast models was entrusted to both Popy and the Nomura company. Both have faithfully reproduced the ship in every detail and in various sizes. The Popy versions are certainly rarer and more expensive than the Nomura ones, where only the Andromeda ship is very rare and expensive to find.

This Yamato, however, is a spaceship that has a Wave Drive Engine that allows it to fly and has enough power to allow Space Jumps, with which it is possible to move instantly between two very distant points in space thanks to the theory of the curvature of space. |

He is basically the true protagonist of the series, or at least the most important character. He is given the responsibility and command of the war actions against the Gamilonians. Sometimes he engages in battle piloting an attack fighter, and leading the actions of the group that takes the name of Black Tigers. After the death of Avatar he will become the commander of the Yamato, even if he will never sit in his captain’s place.

Pilot-helmsman of the Yamato, he is also Wildstar’s best friend and academy companion, the two of them carry out many of the most important missions together.

GAMILON
I Gamilon are a race of blue-skinned aliens that exist in the Star Blazers universe. They live on their home world Gamilon, when their world begins to become inhospitable, they search the nearby Milky Way galaxy and find Earth. Using their unusual but effective method of terraforming, they launch hundreds of planetary bombs at Earth, filled with radiation as they cannot breathe in mostly oxygen-filled atmospheres, but only in radiation-filled gas.
