Super Robot 28: Il Ritorno del Gigante

Super Robot 28 (Shin Tetsujin 28-go) è la serie anime del 1980, remake del classico in bianco e nero degli anni ’60. Ambientata in un futuro prossimo, la trama segue il giovane Shotaro Kaneda, figlio del Dr. Kaneda, che eredita il controllo del Tetsujin 28, un colossale robot costruito originariamente come super arma e ora utilizzato per la giustizia. Insieme all’ispettore Ootsuka e al professor Shikishima, Shotaro combatte contro organizzazioni criminali e minacce extraterrestri. In questa versione, il design del Tetsujin è stato completamente modernizzato, apparendo molto più slanciato e agile rispetto al suo predecessore tozzo degli anni ’60.

Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla ditta POPY e presenta alcuni dei pezzi più iconici della produzione Chogokin. I modelli principali includono la versione ST (GB-23) e la versione DX (GB-24). Un pezzo unico nella storia del collezionismo è il maestoso SG-01, un modello alto 40 cm realizzato quasi interamente in metallo; doveva essere il primo di una nuova serie (SG), ma i costi di produzione elevatissimi lo resero un caso isolato. Lo stesso robot fu successivamente distribuito nella linea Godaikin con colorazioni leggermente differenti. Altro accessorio fondamentale è il Clipper (PC-10), il veicolo utilizzato da Shotaro per pilotare il robot.

Così, invece di diventare un’arma fondamentale nelle mani dei militari, la complessa macchina messa a punto dai due scienziati viene affidata al figlio dodicenne (decenne nel manga) di Kaneda, Shotaro, che viene incaricato di pilotarlo tramite un apposito telecomando. Il ragazzino si dimostra subito particolarmente abile nel manovrare il colosso di ferro e Tetsujin è messo al servizio della giustizia, in special modo contro il crimine organizzato: i due saranno impegnati nella lotta contro il perfido professor Franken, ma poi anche contro esseri extraterrestri.

Restyling dal mecha molto più accattivante rispetto al suo predecessore, Popy riprodusse il modello in modalità standard e deluxe con i codici GB23 e GB24. Decise poi di immettere nel mercato un nuovo modello, alto ben 40 cm come un jumbo ma in metallo. Doveva essere il primo di una nuova serie denominata SG, ma i costi elevatissimi e il modello poco accessoriato e per nulla trasformabile fecero crollare le vendite e il Tetsujin 28 rimase l’unico modello SG prodotto. Lo stesso robot con colorazioni leggermente diverse fu anni dopo venduto nella linea Godaikin

Toys molto costo costoso, soprattutto se in scatola Popy.

Super Robot 28: The Return of the Giant

Super Robot 28 (Shin Tetsujin 28-go) is the 1980 anime series, a remake of the black-and-white 1960s classic. Set in the near future, the plot follows young Shotaro Kaneda, son of Dr. Kaneda, who inherits control of Tetsujin 28, a colossal robot originally built as a super weapon and now used for justice. Alongside Inspector Ootsuka and Professor Shikishima, Shotaro fights against criminal organizations and extraterrestrial threats. In this version, Tetsujin’s design was completely modernized, appearing much sleeker and more agile than its stocky 1960s predecessor.

The Diecast merchandising for the series was produced by the POPY company and features some of the most iconic pieces of Chogokin production. The main models include the ST version (GB-23) and the DX version (GB-24). A unique piece in collecting history is the majestic SG-01, a 40 cm tall model made almost entirely of metal; it was intended to be the first of a new series (SG), but extremely high production costs made it an isolated case. The same robot was later distributed in the Godaikin line with slightly different colors. Another essential accessory is the Clipper (PC-10), the vehicle used by Shotaro to pilot the robot.

Restyling with a much more attractive mecha than its predecessor, Popy reproduced the model in standard and deluxe mode with the codes GB23 and GB24. He then decided to put a new model on the market, 40 cm tall like a jumbo but in metal. It was supposed to be the first of a new series called SG, but the very high costs and the model with few accessories and not at all transformable caused sales to collapse and the Tetsujin 28 remained the only SG model produced. The same robot with slightly different colors was sold years later in the Godaikin line
