The Fifth Grade Magic Club è una serie televisiva fantasy giapponese del 1978, composta da 41 puntate, che riscosse un enorme successo tra i bambini dell’epoca. La storia ruota attorno a cinque grandi amici che frequentano la classe quinta elementare nella città di Higashi. Un giorno, i ragazzi aiutano accidentalmente una donna ferita, scoprendo in seguito che si tratta di una strega di nome Mitsuko Tobase, vecchia di 575 anni e proveniente dal mondo dei demoni. Dimenticata dai ragazzi, una borsa contenente oggetti magici dà il via a una serie di incredibili avventure, scherzi e situazioni caotiche, trasformando la loro vita scolastica in un mondo di pura magia.
Il merchandising Diecast di questa serie, sebbene lo show sia oggi quasi sconosciuto in Occidente, fu affidato alla ditta POPY. La produzione fu estremamente limitata: venne realizzato infatti un solo modello, il Magicar (PA-99). Si tratta del veicolo volante utilizzato dalla strega Mitsuko e dai ragazzi, che appare magicamente quando due placche triangolari vengono unite a forma di Stella di Davide recitando un incantesimo. Nonostante sia un diecast esteticamente gradevole e ben rifinito, il Magicar rimane un pezzo di nicchia, poco ricercato dai grandi collezionisti e con un valore di mercato contenuto, ma rappresenta una preziosa testimonianza del successo popolare della serie in Giappone.

Si tratta di una serie speciale fantasy rivolta ai bambini Lo show riscosse talmente tanto successo che quando è stata trasmessa, tutti gli studenti delle scuole elementari giapponesi volevano trasferirsi in quella fantastica 5a classe delle elementari in cui si svolgevano delle fantastiche avventure. Lo spettacolo infatti parla di 5 ragazzini molto amici tra loro che frequentano la classe quinta della scuola elementare della città di Higashi. Un giorno i ragazzini accidentalmente feriscono una signora, la aiutano e la curano. Successivamente scoprono che dentro ad una borsa che la donna ha dimenticato ci sono degli oggetti magici che cominciano ad utilizzare causando ulteriori guai. I ragazzini scoprono così he la donna è in realtà un strega e da quel momento inizano a viver magiche avventure fatte di scherzi e magia. |

Il suo soprannome è Takewa, che deriva dalle iniziali del suo nome. Dà l’impressione di essere uno studente secchione con gli occhiali, ma in realtà non è quello con i voti migliori tra i cinque.
Tosuke
Il suo soprannome è Yan Meng, che deriva dalle iniziali del suo nome. È goffo, ma ha una forza fisica molto elevata nonostante la giovane età.
Masaki
Soprannominato “Ragazzo cosa fare”, perché spesso diceva “Cosa fare?” quando pensava, È il più intelligente tra i cinque e il cervello della squadra, ma il suo rendimento scolastico è in realtà molto scarso.
Mitsuko
Il soprannome è MIKO, che è una versione semplificata di MITSUKO. Una ragazza con una forte volontà e un cuore gentile, il suo rendimento scolastico è il migliore tra tutti.

The Fifth Grade Magic Club: Magical Adventures in 5th Grade
The Fifth Grade Magic Club is a 1978 Japanese fantasy television series consisting of 41 episodes, which was a huge hit among children at the time. The story revolves around five best friends attending the fifth grade in the city of Higashi. One day, the children accidentally help an injured woman, later discovering she is a 575-year-old witch named Mitsuko Tobase from the demon world. A bag containing magical objects, left behind and found by the kids, kicks off a series of incredible adventures, pranks, and chaotic situations, transforming their school life into a world of pure magic.
The Diecast merchandising for this series, although the show is mostly unknown in the West today, was handled by the POPY company. Production was extremely limited: in fact, only one model was ever produced, the Magicar (PA-99). It is the flying vehicle used by the witch Mitsuko and the children, which magically appears when two small triangular plates are joined into the shape of a Star of David while reciting an incantation. Despite being an aesthetically pleasing and well-finished diecast, the Magicar remains a niche piece, not highly sought after by major collectors and with a modest market value, yet it represents a precious testament to the series’ popular success in Japan.

This is a special fantasy series aimed at children. The show was so successful that when it aired, all the Japanese elementary school students wanted to move to that fantastic 5th grade class where fantastic adventures took place. The show is about 5 kids who are very good friends and who attend the fifth grade of the elementary school in the city of Higashi. One day the kids accidentally hurt a lady, they help her and heal her. Later they discover that inside a bag that the woman has forgotten there are some magical objects that they start to use causing further trouble. The kids discover that the woman is actually a witch and from that moment they start to live magical adventures made of pranks and magic. |
