Time Bokan: Le Macchine del Tempo

Nate nel 1975 dagli studi Tatsunoko, le serie Time Bokan hanno rivoluzionato l’animazione giapponese introducendo un umorismo demenziale e parodistico. In totale contrapposizione con i toni seriosi dei robot antropomorfi dell’epoca, la prima serie (composta da 61 puntate nel 1976) segue le avventure dei giovani Tanpei e Junko. Insieme al pappagallino Perosuke e al robot C-Robo, viaggiano attraverso i secoli a bordo di ingegnose macchine del tempo per ritrovare il dottor Kieta, scomparso durante un esperimento. A ostacolarli c’è il bizzarro trio di cattivi guidato dalla seducente Marjo, costantemente sfortunati e protagonisti di esilaranti sconfitte.

Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu affidato alla ditta TAKATOKU. I modelli realizzati, celebri per la cura dei dettagli e la fedeltà ai mecha originali, sono oggi tra i più ambiti dai collezionisti. Il pezzo più iconico è senza dubbio il Mechabuton, la macchina blu a forma di coleottero rinoceronte, considerato molto raro e costoso. Oltre a questo, la linea Takatoku comprende tutti i principali mezzi della serie, come il Dotabattan (la cavalletta verde) e il Kuwagattan (il cervo volante), insieme ai piccoli veicoli di supporto come lo Yago Marine e il Tentouiki, tutti caratterizzati da un’altissima qualità costruttiva.


TIME BOKAN – LE MACCHINE DEL TEMPO – 61 PUNTATE – 1976
Le serie di anime note come Time Bokan nascono nel 1975 ad opera degli studi d’animazione giapponesi della Tatsunoko. Il nome, formato dall’unione della parola inglese time («tempo») con l’onomatopea giapponese bokan che descrive il suono di un’esplosione, è il titolo dato alla prima serie, ma, dato che tutte le serie successive presentano caratteristiche molto simili alla capostipite, verrà adottato come titolo di riconoscimento dell’intero filone che sarà noto come leTime Bokan Series. Caratteristica fondamentale di queste serie di anime è l’umorismo dichiaratamente demenziale che le contraddistingue: esse infatti nascono come contraltare agli anime seriosi e impegnati che imperversavano in quel periodo. Ci si riferisce in particolare alle serie giapponesi di ambientazione spaziale o comunque contraddistinte dalla presenza di enormi robot antropomorfi (come ad esempio Mazinga, Jeeg robot d’acciaio, Ufo Robot Goldrake), ma anche alle altre serie della stessa Tatsunoko a caratterizzazione “supereroistica” come Gatchaman, Kyashan, Hurricane Polimar e così via. Punti di forza di questi anime erano la messa in scena di scontri epici, battaglie all’ultimo sangue contro bellicose popolazioni extraterrestri, sfoggio di avanzatissime tecnologie e di altissimi ideali, con eroi dalla mentalità affine a quella dei samurai e disposti all’estremo sacrificio. Gli autori delle Time Bokan Series decidono di ribaltare tutti questi stereotipi, parodiando senza pietà gli stilemi delle battaglie fra robot e presentando al pubblico «eroi» giovani quanto quelli delle serie «normali» ma molto più scanzonati e allegri, e «cattivi» goffi e sfortunati, senza alcun senso dell’onore ma molto senso del ridicolo.

Prima serie di quello che è poi diventato nel tempo il genere “time Bokan”. Riscosse enorme successo in Giappone, Takatoku ottenne i copyright per la produzione di modelli diecast, ottimamente realizzati e curati in ogni dettaglio sono oggi molto ricercati ed alcuni modelli, il mechabuton su tutti, sono molto rari e costosi.

L’anime Time Bokan riscosse un enorme successo perchè creò un format che verrà poi ripreso in seguito anche in tutte le altre serie dove si mescola alla perfezione la comicità dei personaggi con la varietà dei mezzi che utilizzano di puntata in puntata. SHAKUTORIN: Mezzo contenuto nel Dotabattan, può funzionare in modo autonomo per riparare in mezzi danneggiati oppure essere guidato dai protagonisti per missioni esplorative.

Time Bokan: The Time Machines

Created in 1975 by Tatsunoko Studios, the Time Bokan series revolutionized Japanese animation by introducing nonsensical and parodic humor. In total contrast with the serious tones of the anthropomorphic robots of the time, the first series (consisting of 61 episodes in 1976) follows the adventures of young Tanpei and Junko. Together with the parrot Perosuke and the robot C-Robo, they travel through the centuries aboard ingenious time machines to find Dr. Kieta, who disappeared during an experiment. Opposing them is the bizarre trio of villains led by the seductive Marjo, who are constantly unlucky and stars of hilarious defeats.

The Diecast merchandising for the series was handled by TAKATOKU. The models produced, famous for their attention to detail and fidelity to the original mecha, are today among the most sought-after by collectors. The most iconic piece is undoubtedly the Mechabuton, the blue machine shaped like a rhinoceros beetle, considered very rare and expensive. In addition to this, the Takatoku line includes all the main vehicles from the series, such as the Dotabattan (the green grasshopper) and the Kuwagattan (the stag beetle), along with small support vehicles like the Yago Marine and the Tentouiki, all characterized by very high construction quality.


TIME BOKAN – 61 EPISODES- 1976
The anime series known as Time Bokan were created in 1975 by the Japanese animation studios Tatsunoko. The name, formed by combining the English word time with the Japanese onomatopoeia bokan, which describes the sound of an explosion, is the title given to the first series, but since all subsequent series have very similar characteristics to the first, it will be adopted as the title of recognition for the entire series, which will be known as the Time Bokan Series. A fundamental characteristic of these anime series is the overtly demented humor that distinguishes them: in fact, they were born as a counterpoint to the serious and committed anime that were all the rage in that period. We are referring in particular to the Japanese series set in space or characterized by the presence of enormous anthropomorphic robots (such as Mazinger, Steel Jeeg, UFO Robot Goldrake), but also to the other series by Tatsunoko itself with a “superheroic” characterization such as Gatchaman, Kyashan, Hurricane Polimar and so on. The strong points of these anime were the staging of epic clashes, battles to the death against bellicose extraterrestrial populations, the display of highly advanced technologies and lofty ideals, with heroes with a mentality similar to that of the samurai and willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. The authors of the Time Bokan Series decide to overturn all these stereotypes, mercilessly parodying the style of robot battles and presenting the public with “heroes” who are as young as those in the “normal” series but much more light-hearted and cheerful, and with “bad guys” who are clumsy and unlucky, with no sense of honor but a great sense of the ridiculous.

The diecast merchandising of the series was made by the TAKATOKU .

First series of what later became the “time Bokan” genre. It was a huge success in Japan, Takatoku obtained the copyright for the production of diecast models, excellently made and cared for in every detail, they are now highly sought after and some models, the mechabuton above all, are very rare and expensive.

The Time Bokan anime was a huge success because it created a format that would later be used again in all the other series where the comedy of the characters is perfectly mixed with the variety of means they use from episode to episode. In particular, the mecha used by the protagonists are:

MECHABUTON: This blue machine, which resembles a Japanese rhinoceros beetle, is the Time Bokan most used by the protagonists of the series.

TENTOUIKI: Vehicle contained in the Mechabuton, used both in battle and as a spy vehicle during missions. YAGO MARINE: Second Vehicle contained in the Mechabuton, it is used for underwater exploratory missions. DOTABATTAN: Second time machine, it belonged to a mysterious people capable of time travel, it is enhanced to increase its potential. SHAKUTORIN: Vehicle contained in the Dotabattan, it can function autonomously to repair damaged vehicles or be driven by the protagonists for exploratory missions.

30 years old, greedy for money and power, extremely determined but with two incompetent assistants. She wants to get hold of the dynamantes to conquer the world.

25 years old, a scientist who, working with Dr. Kida, has plagiarized all of his research and wants to pass it off as his own, to become the most influential and famous scientist in the world. Wiry, awkward and perpetually in love with Margot, as well as being plagued by bad luck.
