Ultraman 80 è uno show televisivo giapponese tokusatsu prodotto da Tsuburaya Productions in onda sul canale Tokyo Broadcasting System dal 2 aprile 1980 al 25 Marzo 1981, per una durata totale di 50 episodi. Ultraman 80 arriva sulla Terra come uno dei nuovi membri della Ultra Spazio Garrison, sotto forma di insegnante di scienze Takeshi Yamato. Dopo una pausa di cinque anni dopo la partenza di Ultraman Leo (1974), i mostri hanno iniziato riapparire di nuovo. La teoria di Yamato è che i mostri sono nati dell’energia creata da emozioni umane negative, noto anche come Minus Energy. Ultraman 80 riscosse un buon successo in Giappone pur essendo ormai la nona serie Ultraman trasmessa. Popy oltre al chogokin del protagonista ha riprodotto anche i veicoli che compaiono nella serie. Non sono particolarmente rari e sono poco ricercati.

ULTRAMAN 80

Nella serie è un insegnante presso la “sakura-ga-Oka Middle School”.
Quando ancora si trovava nella nebulosa M78 era riconosciuto come uno tra i migliori insegnanti. E’ stato il primo ad ipotizzare la teoria dell’energia Minus, secondo la quale i mostri che compaiono e devastano la terra, siano generati e si nutrano dell’odio e della cattiveria insita nel cuore degli umani.

Ultraman 80 è molto potente ed esperto nelle arti marziali. A differenza di altri Ultraman, non ha la necessità di doversi reincarnare in un altro corpo per pter vivere sulla terra, egli è in grado di poter assunere autonomamente l’aspetto di un normale terrestre.

Ultraman 80 is a Japanese tokusatsu television show produced by Tsuburaya Productions that aired on the Tokyo Broadcasting System from April 2, 1980 to March 25, 1981, for a total of 50 episodes. Ultraman 80 arrives on Earth as one of the newest members of the Ultra Space Garrison, in the form of science teacher Takeshi Yamato. After a five-year hiatus following the departure of Ultraman Leo (1974), the monsters have begun to reappear again. Yamato’s theory is that monsters are born from the energy created by negative human emotions, also known as Minus Energy. He decides to become a teacher at Sakuragaoka Junior High School in Tokyo, and serves as a science teacher, as well as the homeroom teacher in charge of the 1st year, E Division. He is absolutely devoted to his students, for he is there to teach them not only about science, but also about life. Unfortunately, he has a weakness for being late, so he does things like promising his students to walk to class on his hands if he is late next time, or even promising to resign as a teacher. He also started a band with his students and jams on an electric guitar. His excessive enthusiasm quickly wins the loyalty of his students, but often makes him an easy target for the school’s first vice teacher Kumi Nozawa. Yamato loves rice, ramen (Japanese noodle soup), and orange juice. He also loves Kyoko Aihara, the gym teacher, but loses all self-confidence and composure in her presence. Yamato wears an orange and silver jumpsuit in the moonlight at UGM (Utility Government Members), Earth’s regular defense team, after school and on Sundays. He takes up the job from Captain Oyama, as they are both present in a park in the first episode, searching for signs of new monster activity. Oyama is happy to meet someone who believes in the resurgence of monsters. His co-workers also had their doubts, as none of them have any combat experience like their veteran captain. At school, only Principal Kennosuke Hayashi knows about Yamato’s extracurricular activities. 80 has one of the most difficult human situations of any Ultraman. Ultraman 80 cannot be revealed to be known by humans, since his revelation will cause 80 to leave Earth. Yet, Yamato still has to balance UGM and school, all the while hiding his true identity, while nursing a crush on Aihara. Although determined to teach his students about responsibility and integrity, he must constantly lie and break promises to keep this multiple personality secret and eventually stops working as a teacher to be a full-time UGM member. Ultraman 80 and Hoshi return home after the final episode event against monster Margodon. In the final episode, UGM destroy Margodon all by themselves. It is revealed that Captain Oyama knows the true identities of Yamato and Hoshi, and a small celebration is held to appreciate Ultraman 80 and Hoshi’s assistance while on Earth.

Ultraman 80 was a great success in Japan even though it was the ninth Ultraman series broadcast. In addition to the protagonist’s chogokin, Popy also reproduced the vehicles that appear in the series. They are not particularly rare and are not very sought after.
