Takeru Miojin è il figlio del dottor Miojin. All’età di 17 anni, inizia ad avere alcuni incubi, agitati da una tenebrosa figura che afferma di chiamarsi Zoule, di essere l’imperatore di un misterioso pianeta di nome Gishin e d’essere il suo vero padre. Il ragazzo, confuso e disorientato, chiede spiegazione al padre il quale si vede costretto a raccontare tutta la verità al figlio: nel 1982, (appunto 17 anni prima) in un punto dell’oceano dove sorge la scogliera Miojin, si verificò una potente esplosione. Il dottore vi si precipitò a controllare e rinvenne una capsula con all’interno un neonato, che venne adottato e chiamato Takeru.La storia narrata inizia nell’anno 1999. La Terra, al culmine del proprio sviluppo tecnologico, si appresta a colonizzare l’intero sistema solare, con la costruzione di una base spaziale su Plutone. La supervisione di tali lavori è affidata al team Crasher Squad (la squadra speciale), che ha la sua base in un centro diretto dal professor Otsuka. Tra i membri della squadra vi è un ragazzo di 17 anni, protagonista della serie: Takeru Miojin. Questi è parte del team completato da Mika, Naoto, Keiji e Akira. Detto ciò, ritornando all’anno 1999, l’imperatore Zoule, oltre ad agitare gli incubi di Takeru, contatta la base del professor Otsuka, intimando i terrestri di abbandonare qualsiasi ulteriore velleità di conquista ed espansione nello spazio, altrimenti,attaccherà la Terra. Data la risposta ovviamente negativa data dai terrestri, Gishin inizia il suo attacco con l’invio di un potente robot da combattimento, che attacca la zona della base spaziale e provoca la morte del dottor Miojin. Takeru, in grave pericolo e in stato di semi incoscienza viene soccorso da un robot di nome Gi-Er (Gaiya o Gaia nella versione giapponese) che lo attira al suo interno con un raggio di luce. Il meccanismo non ha dei comandi o leve come un robot classico ma viene guidato con una sorta di display e con l’ausilio dei poteri Esp del cui possesso Takeru assume gradualmente il controllo. Nel robot, il ragazzo rinviene un ciondolo con un misterioso messaggio, il quale, a seguito della battaglia, verrà decifrato, svelando una realtà terribile: all’interno del robot è programmata una potentissima bomba,(il cui potenziale distruttivo è in grado di distruggere tutta la Terra), che si attiverà non appena le onde cerebrali di Takeru si esauriranno. Al fine di evitare una simile eventualità il ragazzo viene incarcerato per salvaguardarne l’incolumità e con essa, quella dell’intero pianeta, ma Takeru è anche l’unico ad essere in grado di sconfiggere gli alieni di Gishin, anche grazie ad un ulteriore ausilio. Al robot G-Er se ne sono aggiunti altri cinque, dislocati in altrettanti punti del globo, che unendosi formano un possente e invincibile robot: God Mars. Takeru,dapprima guardato con diffidenza per le sue origini aliene, assurge infine ad ultimo paladino in difesa della Terra grazie alla capacità di formare God Mars e,con esso,sconfiggere i generali che si alternano negli attacchi alla Terra. Spesso, però, Takeru sembra udire una voce misteriosa che lo informa per tempo delle mosse del nemico. La voce si rivelerà essere quella del fratello gemello. Questi, in un incontro avvenuto sulla Luna, spiegherà a Takeru tutta la verità sulle sue origini facendo definitivamente chiarezza: Takeru, che in realtà si chiama Mars (il gemello, invece, si chiama Marg) è originario del pianeta Gishin, ma è figlio di un grande scienziato al quale 17 anni prima fu ordinato di sacrificare uno dei due figli (ancora in fasce) al volere dell’imperatore Zoule: questi ordinò di inviarne uno sulla Terra assieme a G-Er ed alla bomba in grado di distruggere il pianeta. Lo scienziato obbedì, ma non completamente, e oltre a G-Er, costruì altri cinque robot che avrebbero protetto il bimbo, unendosi tra loro e con G-Er, nella potente macchina chiamata God Mars. Durante un soggiorno presso la base orbitante Keres, i ragazzi della Squadra Speciale, salvano una misteriosa ragazza: Florrie. La giovane, atterrita dalla sola presenza di Takeru, avrà modo di raccontare le vicende che l’hanno portata in prossimità della base dove è stata soccorsa. Originaria del pianeta Marumeru, Florrie si unì ad un gruppo di ribelli capitanati da Gosh, una sorta di “pirata” dello spazio nella ribellione scoppiata contro il malvagio dittatore del suo pianeta: Giron. La crudeltà e le persecuzioni di quest’ultimo nascerebbero da una caratteristica che divide il popolo di Marumeru in due gruppi: coloro i quali sono dotati di superpoteri “plus” e coloro i quali posseggono superpoteri “minus” (a proposito di tali facoltà, che sembrano per lo più costituire un mero espediente narrativo, l’adattamento italiano e non solo, poco contribuisce a chiarirne l’effettiva natura che si mostra comunque relativamente poco importante, in relazione all’opera considerata nel complesso). Essendo Giron un “plus” ha deciso di perseguitare tutti i “minus”, tra cui Florrie e tutti i ribelli, che serbano una certa diffidenza verso Takeru allorquando i suoi poteri soprannaturali vengono identificati come “plus”. Ciononostante, Takeru si propone di aiutare i ribelli con l’impiego di God Mars e li supporto della Squadra Speciale. Il malvagio Giron, rivelatosi per ciò che è in effetti, ossia una marionetta manovrata dal redivivo Zoule, fa costruire un enorme cannone a onde magnetiche per impedire la formazione di God Mars. L’uso ripetuto di tale arma porterà alla distruzione di Marumeru. Frattanto però, Zoule è riapparso e nel nuovo scontro con Takeru riporta una parziale vittoria: il malvagio infatti riesce a imporre al giovane pilota di God Mars gli anelli del diavolo che, ogni qual volta il possente robot viene a formarsi, accorciano la vita di Takeru.

Modelli diecast realizzati prevalentemente dalla ditta Popy, serie che ha riscosso molto successo soprattutto in Giappone. Il robot Godmars è stato riprodotto in molte varianti di dimensioni: dalle versioni più semplici fino al box deluxe dove il Godmars si scompone nei 6 robot (venduto anche nella linea Godaikin). Sono stati realizzari anche i chogokin di 4 robot nemici che compaiono nell’anime.

Takeru Miojin is the son of Doctor Miojin. At the age of 17, he begins to have nightmares, caused by a dark figure who claims to be called Zoule, to be the emperor of a mysterious planet called Gishin and to be his real father. The boy, confused and disoriented, asks his father for an explanation, who is forced to tell his son the whole truth: in 1982, (precisely 17 years earlier) at a point in the ocean where the Miojin reef stands, a powerful explosion occurred. The doctor rushed there to check and found a capsule with a newborn inside, who was adopted and named Takeru. The story begins in the year 1999. The Earth, at the height of its technological development, is preparing to colonize the entire solar system, with the construction of a space base on Pluto. The supervision of such work is entrusted to the Crasher Squad team (the special team), which has its base in a center directed by Professor Otsuka. Among the members of the team is a 17-year-old boy, the protagonist of the series: Takeru Miojin. He is part of the team completed by Mika, Naoto, Keiji and Akira. That said, returning to the year 1999, Emperor Zoule, in addition to stirring up Takeru’s nightmares, contacts Professor Otsuka’s base, urging the Earthlings to abandon any further desire for conquest and expansion in space, otherwise, he will attack the Earth. Given the obviously negative response given by the Earthlings, Gishin begins his attack by sending a powerful combat robot, which attacks the area of the space base and causes the death of Doctor Miojin. Takeru, in grave danger and in a semi-conscious state, is rescued by a robot named Gi-Er (Gaiya or Gaia in the Japanese version) that attracts him inside with a ray of light. The mechanism does not have controls or levers like a classic robot but is guided with a sort of display and with the help of the Esp powers of which Takeru gradually takes control. In the robot, the boy finds a pendant with a mysterious message, which, after the battle, will be deciphered, revealing a terrible truth: inside the robot is programmed a very powerful bomb (whose destructive potential is capable of destroying the entire Earth), which will be activated as soon as Takeru’s brain waves run out. In order to avoid such an eventuality, the boy is imprisoned to safeguard his safety and with it, that of the entire planet, but Takeru is also the only one able to defeat Gishin’s aliens, also thanks to further assistance. The G-Er robot is joined by five others, located in as many points of the globe, which by uniting form a powerful and invincible robot: God Mars. Takeru, initially looked upon with suspicion for his alien origins, finally rises to become the last paladin in defense of the Earth thanks to the ability to form God Mars and, with it, defeat the generals who take turns in attacking the Earth. Often, however, Takeru seems to hear a mysterious voice that informs him in time of the enemy’s moves. The voice will reveal itself to be that of his twin brother. The latter, in a meeting on the Moon, will explain to Takeru the whole truth about his origins, making things definitively clear: Takeru, whose real name is Mars (his twin, instead, is called Marg) is originally from the planet Gishin, but is the son of a great scientist who 17 years earlier was ordered to sacrifice one of his two children (still in swaddling clothes) to the will of Emperor Zoule: the latter ordered to send one of them to Earth together with G-Er and the bomb capable of destroying the planet. The scientist obeyed, but not completely, and in addition to G-Er, he built five other robots that would protect the child, joining together and with G-Er, in the powerful machine called God Mars. During a stay at the orbiting base Keres, the boys of the Special Squad save a mysterious girl: Florrie. The young girl, terrified by the mere presence of Takeru, will have the opportunity to tell the events that brought her close to the base where she was rescued. Originally from the planet Marumeru, Florrie joined a group of rebels led by Gosh, a sort of space “pirate” in the rebellion that broke out against the evil dictator of her planet: Giron. The cruelty and persecution of the latter would arise from a characteristic that divides the people of Marumeru into two groups: those who are endowed with “plus” superpowers and those who possess “minus” superpowers (regarding these faculties, which mostly seem to constitute a mere narrative expedient, the Italian adaptation and not only, contributes little to clarifying their actual nature which in any case appears relatively unimportant, in relation to the work considered as a whole). Since Giron is a “plus” he has decided to persecute all the “minus”, including Florrie and all the rebels, who maintain a certain distrust towards Takeru when his supernatural powers are identified as “plus”. Nevertheless, Takeru intends to help the rebels with the use of God Mars and the support of the Special Squad. The evil Giron, revealed for what he actually is, namely a puppet manipulated by the revived Zoule, has a huge magnetic wave cannon built to prevent the formation of God Mars. Repeated use of this weapon will lead to the destruction of Marumeru. In the meantime, however, Zoule has reappeared and in the new clash with Takeru he gains a partial victory: the evil one in fact manages to impose the devil’s rings on the young pilot of God Mars which, every time the mighty robot is formed, shorten Takeru’s life.
