In questo archivio di Robot Vintage, analizziamo la storica produzione Popy. Dal maestoso GB-36 DX, capace di scomporsi nei cinque iconici leoni, alla versione Standard GB-35 e alla rarissima variante con code cromate. Scopri la storia di un robot che ha unito le galassie e i cuori di milioni di fan, diventando leggenda sotto il nome di Voltron.


*VOLTRON- GOLION– 52 PUNTATE – 1982*
Voltron è il nome di una serie televisiva d’animazione realizzata negli Stati Uniti dalla World Events Production nel 1983 montando insieme due diverse serie di anime televisivi giapponesi del tutto indipendenti tra loro, Hyakujūō Goraion (Golion) e Kikō kantai Dairugger XV, entrambe prodotte dalla Toei Animation rispettivamente nel 1981 e nel 1982. Ne è stato realizzato anche un remakein computer grafica nel 1998.Come avvenuto in altre occasioni (Force Five, Robotech), questa serie è il risultato di un’operazione editoriale del licenziatario americano, nella specie la World Events Production, che per adattare il prodotto originale giapponese al mercato interno, non esitò a stravolgere gli anime originari rimontandoli ed intervenendo in fase di traduzione su diversi elementi della trama, cambiando nomi e situazioni, e sostituendo finanche le musiche. In particolare, la serie Voltron è composta dai 52 episodi originari della serie Hyakujūō Goraion, dai 52 episodi della serie Kikō kantai Dairugger XV, e da altri 20 episodi di Golion realizzati dalla Toei nel 1984 appositamente per il mercato occidentale su commissione della World Events, per un totale di 124 episodi divisi in tre stagioni. Nei piani dell’editore americano la serie avrebbe dovuto ricomprendere anche un terzo anime, Kosoku denjin Arubegasu (Arbegas), ma il minore successo di pubblico ottenuto con la seconda stagione della serie, ricavata daDairugger XV, convinse gli autori a desistere e a commissionare i nuovi episodi di Golion alla Toei. La trama è incentrata sulle imprese di cinque terrestri che vengono a trovarsi in prima linea per difendere la pace interplanetaria dalle mire di conquista di una potente razza aliena belligerante. I cinque vengono chiamati a pilotare cinque grandi leoni robot che sono in grado di assemblarsi in un enorme robot chiamato Voltron. Nella seconda stagione i leoni vengono sostituiti dai quindici mezzi di Dairugger XV. GoLion è stato pesantemente modificato e ri -assemblati da World Events Productions negli Stati Uniti per creare Voltron . Le modifiche apportate alla serie sono state molte: da dialoghi completamente riscritti, alla creazione della federazione terrestre che in golion non esiste, fino a non far morire personaggi che nella serie principale in realtà lo sono. Talvolta sono stati inseriti spezzoni di altri cartoni animati per creare nuove scene inizialmente non previste.

Il merchandising Diecast della serie fu realizzato dalla ditta POPY e

Il robot è stato realizzato da Popy in versione standard e deluxe. La versione Deluxe è stata esportata anche nella Linea Godaikin. Esiste una versione del Golion DX dove i leoni hanno le code cromate, si tratta di una prima versione molto rara e costosa.

Akira Kogane (Keith)

Un giovane uomo pacato e un leader naturale , Akira comanda la squadra GoLion pilota il Leone Nero e indossa una divisa rossa . Un pensatore strategico, può valutare rapidamente la scelta migliore in qualunque situazione , e prendere azioni decisive e il più delle volte corrette . Egli è noto per essere abbastanza in apprensione per la sua squadra in quanto si preoccupa profondamente per i suoi compagni .

Isamu Kurogane (Lance)

Secondo in comando della squadra , pilota il leone rosso e indossa una divisa blu. È alto magro e scaltro , ha circa 21-23 anni di età . E’ sempre allegro e scherzoso e prende in giro gli altri ogni volta che ne ha l’occasione . E’ l’unico del gruppo che contesta in qualche occasione i comandi di Akira.

Takashi Shirogane (Sven)

Nelle prime puntate dell’anime era il secondo in comando della squadra dopo Akira, indossava una tuta nera e pilotava il leone Blu. Nell’episodio 6 viene però feriro mortalmente. Il suo posto alla guida del leone blu viene preso della principessa Aurora.

Princess Fala (Aurora)

Aurora è la principessa sovrano del Regno di Alte. E’ stata allevata da Koran e Nanny dopo che i suoi genitori sono stati uccisi da Daibazaal quando aveva solo un anno. Dopo la morte di Sven, Aurora inizia a pilotare il Leone Blu , con grande sorpresa di tutti . Indossa una divisa di colore rosa , lo spirito di suo padre a volte appare per fornirle supporto.

Tsuyoshi Seidō (Hunk)

E’ l’uomo forte irascibile del gruppo. Piloti il leone giallo e indossa una divisa arancione . Ha circa 22-24 anni . Può sembrare duro a prima vista , ma ha un cuore tenero , soprattutto quando si tratta di bambini .

Hiroshi Suzuishi (Pidge)

Hiroshi è la più giovane e fisicamente più piccolo del gruppo. Pilota il Leone verde e indossa una divisa verde . Ha circa 12 anni . Pidge si è laureato presso l’accademia in giovane età , e la sua specialità è la scienza . Come gli altri, è ben addestrato nelle arti marziali , e usa la sua l’agilità a suo vantaggio.

Strategist Raible
(Koran)

E’ il consigliere reale di Aurora ed è responsabile del controllo Castello . Salvò Aurora dalle grinfie di Daibazaal 15 anni prima , e l’ha cresciuta come una figlia . Consiglia anche il team GoLion. E’ estremamente protettivo nei confronti di Aurora.

Prince Sincline
(Principe Lotor)

Principe ereditario di Galra , ha mira a detronizzare il proprio padre e a sposare la principessa Aurora. E ‘ un cattivo comandante, ma ha un senso dell’onore , preferendo combattere con la forza piuttosto che utilizzare sporchi sotterfugi pur di ottenere la vittoria. E’ frequente rivale di Akira. Come suo padre , perde le staffe facilmente e uccide i suoi uomini anche per una piccola provocazione

Honerva
(Strega Haggar)

Strega che utilizza alcuni incantesimi , come l’ipnotismo, e travestimenti. Crea anche i leggendari combattenti Beast , che sono l’apice della tecnologia Galran e li invia contro GoLion .

A computer graphics remake was also made in 1998. As happened on other occasions (Force Five, Robotech), this series is the result of an editorial operation by the American licensee, specifically World Events Production, which, in order to adapt the original Japanese product to the domestic market, did not hesitate to distort the original anime by reassembling them and intervening during the translation phase on various elements of the plot, changing names and situations, and even replacing the music. In particular, the Voltron series is composed of the 52 original episodes of the Hyakujūō Goraion series, the 52 episodes of the Kikō kantai Dairugger XV series, and another 20 episodes of Golion made by Toei in 1984 specifically for the Western market on commission from World Events, for a total of 124 episodes divided into three seasons. In the plans of the American publisher, the series should have also included a third anime, Kosoku denjin Arubegasu (Arbegas), but the lesser public success obtained with the second season of the series, derived from Dairugger XV, convinced the authors to desist and to commission the new episodes of Golion to Toei. The plot focuses on the exploits of five earthlings who find themselves on the front lines to defend interplanetary peace from the conquest aims of a powerful belligerent alien race. The five are called to pilot five large robot lions that are able to assemble themselves into a huge robot called Voltron. In the second season the lions are replaced by the fifteen vehicles of Dairugger XV. GoLion was heavily edited and re-edited by World Events Productions in the United States to create Voltron. The changes made to the series were many: from completely rewritten dialogue, to the creation of the Earth Federation that does not exist in GoLion, to not killing off characters who actually do in the main series. Sometimes clips from other cartoons were inserted to create new scenes that were not initially planned.

The Diecast merchandising of the series was made by the POPY e

The robot was made by Popy in standard and deluxe versions. The Deluxe version was also exported in the Godaikin Line. There is a version of the Golion DX where the lions have chrome tails, this is a very rare and expensive first version.

Akira Kogane (Keith)

A calm young man and a natural leader, Akira commands the GoLion team piloting the Black Lion and wearing a red uniform. A strategic thinker, he can quickly assess the best course of action in any situation, and take decisive and more often than not correct actions. He is known to be quite apprehensive about his team as he cares deeply for his teammates.

Isamu Kurogane (Lance)

Second in command of the team, he pilots the red lion and wears a blue uniform. He is tall, thin and shrewd, and is about 21-23 years old. He is always cheerful and joking and makes fun of the others whenever he gets the chance. He is the only one of the group who sometimes challenges Akira’s commands.

Takashi Shirogane (Sven)

In the first episodes of the anime he was the second in command of the team after Akira, he wore a black suit and piloted the Blue Lion. In episode 6, however, he was mortally wounded. His place at the helm of the Blue Lion was taken by Princess Aurora.

Princess Fala (Aurora)

Aurora is the ruling princess of the Alte Kingdom. She was raised by Koran and Nanny after her parents were killed by Daibazaal when she was only one year old. After Sven’s death, Aurora begins piloting the Blue Lion, much to everyone’s surprise. Wearing a pink uniform, her father’s spirit sometimes appears to provide support.

Tsuyoshi Seidō (Hunk)

He is the strong-tempered man of the group. He pilots the yellow lion and wears an orange uniform. He is about 22-24 years old. He may seem tough at first glance, but he has a soft heart, especially when it comes to children.

Hiroshi Suzuishi (Pidge)

Hiroshi is the youngest and physically smallest of the group. He pilots the Green Lion and wears a green uniform. He is around 12 years old. Pidge graduated from the academy at a young age, and his specialty is science. Like the others, he is well trained in martial arts, and uses his agility to his advantage.

Strategist Raible
(Koran)

He is Aurora’s royal advisor and is responsible for controlling Castle. He saved Aurora from Daibazaal’s clutches 15 years ago, and raised her as his own daughter. He also advises the GoLion team. He is extremely protective of Aurora.

Prince Sincline
(Principe Lotor)

Crown Prince of Galra, he aims to dethrone his father and marry Princess Aurora. He is a bad commander, but has a sense of honor, preferring to fight with strength rather than using dirty tricks to achieve victory. He is a frequent rival of Akira. Like his father, he loses his temper easily and kills his men even for a small provocation.

Honerva
(Strega Haggar)

A witch who uses certain spells, such as hypnotism, and disguises. She also creates the legendary Beast fighters, which are the pinnacle of Galran technology, and sends them against GoLion.
