Gordian: L’Incredibile Robot Matrioska

Gordian ha ridefinito il concetto di “armatura robotica”, portando l’incastro meccanico a livelli mai visti prima.

In questa sezione di Robot Vintage, esploriamo la leggendaria serie Popy GB dedicata al guerriero di Victor City. Dal monumentale Gordian DX, un capolavoro di design che permette l’incastro reale dei tre robot, alla rarissima versione Standard e alla pantera Clint (GB-13). Rivivi la tecnologia del dottor Otaki attraverso le schede tecniche e le immagini dei modelli che hanno segnato la storia del diecast.


GORDIAN – 73 PUNTATE – 1979
La vicenda vede come protagonista Daigo, un ragazzo molto estroverso figlio del dottor Otaki, geniale scienziato che dopo essere fisicamente morto è stato “computerizzato”, ovverosia prosegue la sua esistenza senza più disporre del proprio corpo e vive così all’interno di un computer. La storia è ambientata a Victor City, una città futuristica il cui passato nasconde però un grande segreto. Questa città viene improvvisamente attaccata dalla spietata razza aliena dei Madokter. Nonostante Victor City venga strenuamente difesa dalle sue forze militari, i Madokter sono numericamente soverchianti e soprattutto tecnologicamente superiori rispetto ai militari della città. Proprio quando le forze nemiche stanno per prevalere, il dottor Otaki rivela l’esistenza di una segretissima generazione di robot totalmente innovativa composta da Protteser, Delinger e Garbin. Questi tre robot insieme formano Gordian, un potentissimo mecha progettato in modo da essere guidato da Daigo, il quale è dotato della capacità di comandare i tre robot anche telepaticamente. Così Daigo Otaki si ritrova suo malgrado a essere catapultato in guerra e a interagire con Protteser, robot dalle dimensioni poco più grandi di Daigo che egli richiama nei momenti di pericolo e che può fungergli anche da armatura robotica aprendosi e permettendogli in questo modo di entrarci dentro. Quando anche Protteser non si riveli sufficiente a respingere il nemico ecco che Daigo può chiamare in soccorso un robot più grande, Dellinger, capace di relazionarsi con Protteser allo stesso modo in cui quest’ultimo interagisce con Daigo e in caso di ulteriore pericolo anche Delinger può aprirsi e diventare perciò un involucro per Protteser. Nell’eventualità di un pericolo gravissimo può intervenire un terzo robot, il più grande dei tre, ovverosia Garbin, che in caso di pericolo estremo può eventualmente anch’esso aprirsi e diventare pertanto il super contenitore di Delinger. Pertanto Garbin e Gordian sono di identico aspetto, ma è il contenuto a cambiare: Garbin è solo il robot più grande funzionante autonomamente mentre Gordian è l’insieme dei tre robot più l’uomo con cui essi sono telepaticamente in sintonia cioè Daigo. In ogni puntata Daigo, insieme con i suoi robot, si trova ad affrontare i Madokter capeggiati dal perfido Gran Maestro Dokuma cui si vedono solo i due occhi fluttuanti e minacciosi. In seguito apparirà anche la sorella di Daigo, Saori, la quale nel prosieguo della guerra verrà ferita in battaglia cercando di guidare Gordian. Inseparabile dal protagonista la sua pantera nera, Clint, anch’essa di natura robotica.

Del Gordian sono stati realizzati una versione standard che contiene i 3 robot non assemblabili e una versione Deluxe con il robot trasformabile, venduta anche con box Godaikin. Gordian è uno dei pochi casi in cui la versione standard è molto più rara e quindi anche più costosa della versione Deluxe.

GORDIAN

Super robot che nasce dall’incastro di Protesser, Deringer e Garbin; è governato da Daigo che ne controlla le azioni con la sola forza del suo pensiero. I tre robot possono anche parzialmente agire in modo indipendente, ma se Daigo non si trova all’interno di uno di essi non sono capaci di combattere.

PROTESSER

il minore dei 3 robot che compongono Gordian, ha in testa un casco di football americano e una palla ovale che lancia come arma.

DELINGER

Il robot mediano, rosso e bianco, utilizza una spada da combattimento

GARBIN

Il maggiore dei tre robot, blu e bianco, quando porta al suo interno anche gli altri due componenti si muta in Gordian assumendone tutte le potenzialità.

Daigo

È il giovane protagonista, figlio dello scienziato Otaki,Esperto di football americano, all’inizio della serie si arruola volontariamente nell’esercito di difesa-terra chiamato Mechacon e che risiede a VictorCity, dimostrerà ben presto esser molto restio nei confronti della disciplina e del rispetto dei regolamenti.Grazie a Saori entrerà in possesso di Gordian, un triplice robot costruito apposta per esser guidato da lui.

Peggy

giovane donna-soldato, fa parte dell’esercito Mechacon agli ordini di Barry, prova immediatamente una forte attrazione sentimentale nei confronti di Daigo. Non perde occasione per riprenderlo e cercar di renderlo caratterialmente un po’ più maturo e adulto.

Barry Hawk

superiore militare di Daigo e Perry e comandante in capo dei Mechacon, impone il rispetto dei regolamenti ma si dimostra molto attaccato ai suoi sottoposti.

CLINT

Fedele pantera robotica che spalleggia sempre il protagonista.

Dokuma

un essere sovraterreno che, grazie al gran libro dell’Apocalisse da lui scritto, impartisce i comandi e gli ordini che devono essere eseguiti dai suoi sottoposti. Appare unicamente su uno schermo nero sotto forma di un paio di occhi verdi brillanti.

Barras

Uno dei comandanti dell’esercito Madocter, riesce a conquistare la fiducia di Dokuma e quindi a sorpassare gli altri generali e ministri, divenendo col tempo comandante in capo degli attacchi sferrati alla Terra. Muore negli episodi finali dopo un epico scontro con Gordian.

Saxidar

generale anziano, a lui è affidato il libro sacro di Dokuma che viene letto e consultato prima di ogni missione.

The story features Daigo, a very extroverted boy, son of Dr. Otaki, a brilliant scientist who after being physically dead was “computerized”, that is, he continues his existence without his own body and thus lives inside a computer. The story is set in Victor City, a futuristic city whose past, however, hides a great secret. This city is suddenly attacked by the ruthless alien race of Madokters. Although Victor City is staunchly defended by its military forces, the Madokters are numerically overwhelming and more importantly technologically superior to the city’s military. Just as the enemy forces are about to prevail, Dr. Otaki reveals the existence of a top secret, totally innovative generation of robots composed of Protteser, Delinger and Garbin. These three robots together form Gordian, a very powerful mecha designed to be driven by Daigo, who is also equipped with the ability to command the three robots telepathically. Thus Daigo Otaki finds himself catapulted into war against his will and interacting with Protteser, a robot slightly larger than Daigo that he calls upon in times of danger and which can also act as a robotic armour by opening up and allowing him to enter inside. When even Protteser is not enough to repel the enemy, Daigo can call for help from a larger robot, Dellinger, capable of interacting with Protteser in the same way that the latter interacts with Daigo and in case of further danger, Delinger can also open up and become a shell for Protteser. In the event of a very serious danger, a third robot can intervene, the largest of the three, namely Garbin, who in case of extreme danger can also open up and thus become Delinger’s super container. Therefore, Garbin and Gordian have the same appearance, but the content changes: Garbin is only the largest robot that functions autonomously while Gordian is the set of the three robots plus the man with whom they are telepathically in tune, namely Daigo. In each episode Daigo, along with his robots, finds himself facing the Madokter led by the evil Grand Master Dokuma, whose only visible features are his two floating and threatening eyes. Later, Daigo’s sister, Saori, will also appear, who will be wounded in battle during the war while trying to lead Gordian. Inseparable from the protagonist is his black panther, Clint, who is also a robotic being.

A standard version of Gordian has been made, containing the 3 non-assembled robots, and a Deluxe version with the transformable robot, also sold with a Godaikin box. Gordian is one of the few cases where the standard version is much rarer and therefore also more expensive than the Deluxe version.

GORDIAN

Super robot born from the combination of Protesser, Deringer and Garbin; it is governed by Daigo who controls its actions with the sole power of his thought. The three robots can also partially act independently, but if Daigo is not inside one of them they are not capable of fighting.

PROTESSER

the smallest of the 3 robots that make up Gordian, he has an American football helmet on his head and an oval ball that he throws as a weapon.

DELINGER

The medium, red and white robot uses a combat sword

GARBIN

The eldest of the three robots, blue and white, when he also carries the other two components inside him, transforms into Gordian, assuming all their potential.

Daigo

He is the young protagonist, son of the scientist Otaki, an expert in American football, at the beginning of the series he voluntarily enlists in the land defense army called Mechacon and which resides in VictorCity, he will soon prove to be very reluctant towards discipline and respect for the rules. Thanks to Saori he will come into possession of Gordian, a triple robot built specifically to be driven by him.

Peggy

young female soldier, part of the Mechacon army under Barry’s command, immediately feels a strong sentimental attraction towards Daigo. She never misses an opportunity to take him back and try to make him a little more mature and adult in character.

Barry Hawk

Daigo and Perry’s military superior and commander in chief of the Mechacons, he enforces compliance with the rules but proves very attached to his subordinates.

CLINT

GB13

Faithful robotic panther who always supports the protagonist.

Dokuma

a supernatural being who, thanks to the great book of the Apocalypse written by him, gives commands and orders that must be carried out by his subordinates. He appears only on a black screen in the form of a pair of bright green eyes.

Barras

One of the commanders of the Madocter army, he manages to gain Dokuma’s trust and thus surpass the other generals and ministers, becoming over time commander in chief of the attacks launched on Earth. He dies in the final episodes after an epic battle with Gordian.
