Jeeg Robot d’acciaio: Il Potere del Magnetismo
Nato dal genio di Go Nagai nel 1975, Kotetsu Jeeg ha rivoluzionato il concetto di eroe robotico. La storia ruota attorno a Hiroshi Shiba, un campione di Formula 1 che, grazie a una campana di bronzo miniaturizzata nel suo petto, può trasformarsi nella testa di un potente robot. Assistito dalla coraggiosa Miwa a bordo del Big Shooter, Jeeg deve difendere la Terra dal risveglio dell’antico popolo Yamatai, guidato dalla Regina Himica e successivamente dall’Imperatore del Drago.
L’archivio di Robot Vintage dedica un’ampia sezione alla produzione Takara, l’azienda che ha legato indissolubilmente il proprio nome a Jeeg grazie all’innovativa serie “Magne-mo”. A differenza dei Chogokin di Popy, i modelli Takara utilizzavano giunti sferici magnetici che permettevano una modularità e una posabilità senza precedenti per l’epoca. Il professor Shiba, noto scienziato giapponese, durante una ricerca archeologica, scopre una antica campana di bronzo appartenuta all’antico popolo Yamatai, soggetto alla malvagia regina Himica. Una popolazione che ha sempre fatto come regola di vita la sopraffazione dell’uomo sull’uomo. Il popolo Yamatai non si è estinto, si è ibernato nella roccia in attesa di ritornare in vita: solo la magica campana di bronzo gli permetterebbe di conquistare il mondo: per questo il professore decide di nascondere la campana e approfittando di un grave incidente di laboratorio in cui viene disgraziatamente coinvolto suo figlio Hiroshi, gli miniaturizza nel petto la campana, rendendolo invulnerabile. Hiroshi cresce senza essere a conoscenza di tutto ciò; diventa un grande campione di Formula 1. Un giorno durante una corsa egli rimane vittima di un grave incidente automobilistico, dal quale rimane incredibilmente illeso: ma nulla gli lascia intuire la sua invulnerabilità. In quegli stessi istanti rinascono dalle rocce i guerrieri Aniwa, insieme al perfido ministro Ikima, che aggrediscono il professore ferendolo gravemente. Miwa, la sua giovane assistente, lo ritrova e lo riporta morente a casa della sua famiglia, dove morirà fra le braccia del figlio, ma non prima di avergli consegnato una strana collana e un paio di misteriosi guanti. Il professor Shiba ha però creato, prima di morire, un computer dove ha riversato tutta la sua conoscenza: ed è questa che rivela al figlio di potersi trasformare in un robot, Jeeg, il robot d’acciaio, destinato a difendere l’umanità dai perfidi mostri Haniwa. |

Grazie ai guanti consegnatigli dal padre Hiroshi, congiungendo le mani a pugno, può diventare la testa senziente del robot; completa poi la trasformazione unendosi magneticamente ai componenti che gli lancia Miwa dal Big Shooter. Una volta assemblato Jeeg è alto circa 11 metri e pesa oltre 12 tonnellate. In battaglia talvolta è coadiuvato a Antares (Panzeroid) un cavallo meccanico lanciato dal Centro Ricerche in aiuto del Jeeg, unendosi, permette a Jeeg di diventare un potente centauro (Panzeroid) |

Navicella pilotata da Miwa, è dotata di missili e può sganciare le ali quando ve ne sia bisogno. Il suo intervento risulta esser sempre indispensabile in quanto è da esso che vengono lanciati i pezzi che dovranno comporre interamente il corpo di Jeeg, dopo che Hiroshi s’è mutato nella sua testa. Oltre alle parti del corpo in acciaio di Jeeg contiene al suo interno anche i relativi pezzi di ricambio. La sua lunghezza è di circa 28 metri. |

Hiroshi Shiba
25 anni, appassionato d’auto e giovanissimo Campione del Mondo di Formula 1, figlio del professor Shiba a cui è, almeno inizialmente, fortemente contrapposto: lo scienziato difatti ha deciso di concentrare tutte le proprie energie alla ricerca senza tener conto della famiglia. Ma poco alla volta verrà a conoscer le sue vere intenzioni.Ha la capacità di trasformarsi nella testa bionica di Jeeg, a seguito degli esperimenti scientifici compiuti da padre su di lui quand’egli era ancora molto piccolo.
Miwa
Il dottor Shiba se ne prese cura fin da quando divenne orfana e ne fece la sua assistente e collaboratrice fedele, è addetta a pilotare il Big Shooter e a sganciare i componenti necessari per portare a compimento la trasformazione di Hiroshi in Jeeg. Indossa un abito bianco con stivali e minigonna; il suo fermacapelli si abbassa trasformandosi in visiera al momento del decollo col Big Shooter quando ne preme le estremità. Il nome deriva da quello di una montagna sacra allo shintoismo.
Dr. Shiba
Padre di Hiroshi. Scienziato ed archeologo di fama: è lui che ha trovato il reperto denominato “campana di bronzo”. Fa in modo di trasferire la propria coscienza e memoria all’interno d’un computer In questo modo, dopo essere stato ucciso, può continuare a comunicare Si sacrificherà durante la battaglia finale contro l’Imperatore del Drago
Regina Imika
Sovrana dell’arcaico e antichissimo popolo degli Haniwa ed ora regina del vasto regno sotterraneo; dopo il risveglio dal suo sonno millenario vuole ottenere nuovamente il dominio del Giappone a favore del proprio impero e contro gli umani, rovesciandone il potere costituito.
Imperatore del drago
Il massimo antagonista della serie: ha un drago sputafuoco attorno al collo e i capelli rossi color fiamma. Dopo aver ucciso Himica ne prende il posto sul trono, rivelandosi ben presto per Jeeg un nemico ancor più crudele di lei.
Ikimaa
Specializzato nella messa a punto delle strategie più intellettuali, muore nel corso della battaglia finale a bordo dell’astronave madre. È il nome di un’antica provincia giapponese.
Steel Jeeg: The Power of Magnetism
Created by the genius Go Nagai in 1975, Kotetsu Jeeg revolutionized the concept of the robotic hero. The Robot Vintage archive dedicates an extensive section to Takara’s production, the company that inextricably linked its name to Jeeg through the innovative “Magne-mo” series. Unlike Popy’s Chogokin, Takara’s models featured magnetic ball joints, allowing for modularity and poseability that were unprecedented at the time. Professor Shiba, a well-known Japanese scientist, during an archaeological research, discovers an ancient bronze bell that belonged to the ancient Yamatai people, subject to the evil queen Himica. A population that has always made the oppression of man by man a rule of life. The Yamatai people have not become extinct, they have hibernated in the rock waiting to return to life: only the magical bronze bell would allow them to conquer the world: for this reason the professor decides to hide the bell and taking advantage of a serious laboratory accident in which his son Hiroshi is unfortunately involved, miniaturizes the bell in his chest, making him invulnerable. Hiroshi grows up without knowing all this; he becomes a great Formula 1 champion. One day during a race he is the victim of a serious car accident, from which he remains incredibly unharmed: but nothing lets him guess his invulnerability. In those same moments the Aniwa warriors are reborn from the rocks, together with the evil minister Ikima, who attack the professor, seriously injuring him. Miwa, his young assistant, finds him and brings him dying back to his family’s house, where he will die in his son’s arms, but not before giving him a strange necklace and a pair of mysterious gloves. However, before dying, Professor Shiba created a computer into which he poured all his knowledge: and it is this that reveals to his son that he can transform into a robot, Jeeg, the steel robot, destined to defend humanity from the evil Haniwa monsters. |

Thanks to the gloves given to him by his father Hiroshi, by joining his hands into a fist, he can become the sentient head of the robot; he then completes the transformation by magnetically joining himself to the components that Miwa throws him from the Big Shooter. Hiroshi Shiba
25 years old, passionate about cars and very young Formula 1 World Champion, son of Professor Shiba to whom he is, at least initially, strongly opposed: the scientist in fact has decided to concentrate all his energies on research without taking his family into account. But little by little he will come to know his true intentions. He has the ability to transform into the bionic head of Jeeg, following the scientific experiments performed by his father on him when he was still very young.
Miwa
Doctor Shiba took care of her since she became an orphan and made her his assistant and faithful collaborator, she is responsible for piloting the Big Shooter and releasing the components necessary to complete Hiroshi’s transformation into Jeeg. She wears a white dress with boots and a miniskirt; her hair clip lowers and transforms into a visor when she presses the ends of the Big Shooter during take-off. Her name comes from a mountain sacred to Shintoism.
Dr. Shiba
Hiroshi’s father. A famous scientist and archaeologist: he is the one who found the artifact called “bronze bell”. He arranges to transfer his consciousness and memory into a computer. In this way, after being killed, he can continue to communicate. He will sacrifice himself during the final battle against the Dragon Emperor.
Imika
Ruler of the archaic and ancient people of the Haniwa and now queen of the vast underground kingdom; after awakening from her thousand-year sleep she wants to regain dominion over Japan in favor of her own empire and against humans, overthrowing their established power.
Dragon Emperor
The main antagonist of the series: he has a fire-breathing dragon around his neck and flame-colored red hair. After killing Himica he takes her place on the throne, soon revealing himself to Jeeg as an even more cruel enemy than her.
Ikimaa
Specialized in developing the most intellectual strategies, he dies during the final battle aboard the mother ship. It is the name of an ancient Japanese province.
