Macross: Un’Odissea Spaziale tra Musica e Battaglie
Nel 1999, un’enorme astronave aliena si schianta sulla Terra. Ribattezzata SDF-1 Macross, viene ricostruita per diventare il baluardo difensivo dell’umanità. Dieci anni dopo, durante l’inaugurazione, un attacco dei guerrieri Zentradi costringe la nave a un salto spaziale d’emergenza, trascinando con sé un’intera città civile e ritrovandosi ai confini del sistema solare. La serie segue le vicende del pilota Hikaru Ichijyo, della cantante Lynn Minmay e dell’ufficiale Misa Hayase in una guerra dove la cultura e la musica si rivelano armi più potenti dei cannoni.
Il successo di Macross è indissolubilmente legato alla ditta Takatoku, che grazie a questa serie raggiunse record di vendite incredibili. Il pezzo forte della produzione è il Valkyrie, il caccia trasformabile (in modalità Jet, Gerwalk e Robot) che ha rivoluzionato il design meccanico degli anni ’80. L’archivio di Robot Vintage documenta la vasta gamma di modelli diecast prodotti, dalle diverse scale dei Valkyrie (1/55, 1/100, 1/144) alle imponenti riproduzioni dell’astronave SDF-1, oggi oggetti di culto assoluto per i collezionisti.

Nel 1999 un’astronave aliena si schianta su un’isola della Terra. Temendo un’invasione aliena, l’astronave viene ricostruita per renderla ammiraglia di una flotta basata sulla nuova tecnologia acquisita. 2009, nel giorno dell’inaugurazione della nuova astronave, ribattezzata Super Dimensional Fortress 1 Macross (abbreviato SDF-1), un meccanismo di autodifesa della nave si attiva inaspettatamente, sparando una cannonata interplanetaria che distrugge alcune navi aliene in orbita intorno alla Terra e attirando quindi l’attenzione degli Zentradi, un popolo dedito alla guerra. La flotta aliena attacca quindi la Terra. Per allontanare il pericolo dal pianeta, Macross caricherà a bordo gli occupanti dell’isola (diventando quindi una città volante) e farà una piega spazio-temporale; l’astronave uscirà dalla piega per sbaglio nei pressi di Plutone ritrovandosi sola contro una gigantesca flotta di nemici. |

Macross è la serie che maggiormente ha fatto la fortuna della Takatoku grazie alla quale ha raggiunto record di vendite di giocattoli in particolare per quanto riguarda il suo modello di punta: il Jet Valkiria. La produzione di modelli diecast inerenti alla serie è stata enorme.

Hikaru Hichijō
Nasce nel 1990, originariamente è influenzato dalle idee pacifiste del padre, almeno fino a che la durezza della guerra iniziata dalla razza aliena conosciuta come Zentradi, la quale attacca la Terra, non lo colpisce direttamente. Durante la serie cercherà di conciliare i suoi sentimenti personali, con la realtà della guerra e la necessità di confrontarsi con un’incredibile razza aliena.
Lynn Minmay
Minmay rappresenta la personificazione della musica, che nel corso di tutte le stagioni della serie Macross gioca un ruolo importantissimo. In Macross, Minmay è l’oggetto dell’interesse sentimentale del protagonista Hikaru, ed è una popolare cantante pop nell’universo dell’anime. Le sue canzoni, in grado di mettere i soldati Zentradi in stato confusionale, giocano un ruolo fondamentale nella prima guerra spaziale contro la flotta Zentradi.
Misa Hayase
Nata il 3 marzo del 1985 è la figlia dell’ammiraglio Thomas Hayes, uno dei componenti del Governo Unito Terrestre. Indirizzata giovanissima alla carriera militare, Lisa entra a far parte dell’équipe del professor Edwards che studia e ricostruisce l’SDF-1 precipitato sulla Terra. Scampata per miracolo all’attacco suicida di Lord Kyron, avvia ufficialmente la sua storia d’amore con Hikaru e con lui inizia a progettare la costruzione dell’SDF-3 (poiché l’SDF-2 è stato distrutto durante tale attacco).
Bruno J. Global
Il capitano Global è un ufficiale italiano di sottomarini coinvolto nel recupero della nave aliena into SDF-1 Macross. È l’addetto al ponte comandi della nave ed è un uomo estremamente freddo e razionale, fumatore di pipa nei momenti di nervosismo.Dopo la trionfante guerra contro gli zentradi, Global viene promosso ammiraglio e nel 2014 si ritira dalla vita militare.
Roy Fokker
È uno dei migliori piloti da caccia delle Forze di Difesa Terrestri (DEF). Per le sue doti, viene nominato comandante della “pattuglia dei Teschi”, punta di diamante degli squadroni Veritech: il nome gli viene attribuito dal suo caccia, che si differenzia dagli altri per la livrea completamente bianca, con un paio di vistose insegne pirata .
Max Jenius
Max è un pilota dello squadrone guidato da Hikaru, quando quest’ultimo succede al defunto Roy Fokker a capo dei “Teschi”. Caso particolare, nel mondo delle serie d’azione, è stato specificato essere lui il miglior pilota della saga, e non il protagonista, ma viene anche chiarito che pur essendo superiore a Hikaru Max non è altrettatto adatto al comando, avendo uno stile di volo troppo istintivo e anomalo affinché gli altri piloti riescano a seguirlo efficacemente.
Miria Jenius
Nonostante sia di razza zentradi, il suo aspetto è molto simile a quello di una normale ragazza terrestre. Myria è un’abilissima pilota della flotta zentradi. Dopo essere stata battuta in una battaglia aerea dall’umano Maximilian, si offre volontaria nel processo di miniaturizzazione per infiltrarsi fra gli umani, dove finirà per innamorarsi e sposarsi con lo stesso Max.
Claudia LaSalle
È l’ufficiale in seconda sulla plancia dell’SDF-1, ai comandi di Henry Gloval. Il suo ruolo è quello di coordinatrice e navigatrice. Era la fidanzata di Roy Fokker. Alta circa 1,75 m, di origine afroamericana, porta i capelli corti ed ha un fisico slanciato ed atletico, con gli occhi color nocciola. Indossa un’uniforme dal taglio identico a quello del resto degli alti ufficiali, ma di colore verde scuro, con mostrine in giallo ocra.
Exsedol Folmo
Exsedol è l’ufficiale addetto alle registrazioni zentradi. In seguito nella serie quando la flotta Vrlitwhai decide di schierarsi con gli umani, Exsedol viene rimpicciolito a dimensioni umane ed inviato come ambasciatore di pace. al termine della guerra Exsedol riprende il proprio ruolo di consigliere, oltre a ritornare ad assumere le proprie dimensioni da zentradi.
Zentradi
Gli Zentradi furono creati come razza spaziale di giganteschi guerrieri umanoidi dalla prima civiltà della galassia, la Protocultura , 497.500 anni fa. Contribuirono notevolmente all’espansione della sfera di influenza della Civiltà Protoculturale e alla creazione di una Repubblica Stellare Protoculturale che controllava gran parte della nostra galassia. Tutti gli Zentradi purosangue sono colossali cloni giganti alti circa 10 metri. Per millenni, sia gli Zentradi che le loro controparti femminili furono segregati, rendendo impossibile la riproduzione naturale. Per contrastare ciò, entrambe le parti sono state create tramite mezzi artificiali, in particolare la clonazione.Nonostante ciò, sono biologicamente simili agli esseri umani e sono in grado di produrre ibridi. Sin dalla fine della prima guerra spaziale, molti Zentradi si sono allontanati dalla pratica rigorosamente imposta dalla loro società in favore di essere miclonati per vivere tra gli umani e incrociarsi tra loro come tentativo di rafforzare la pace. Esempi degni di nota includono l’umano Maximilian Jenius e la sua moglie Meltlandi miclonata Milia Fallyna Jenius .
Macross: A Space Odyssey of Music and Battles
In 1999, a massive alien spacecraft crashes on Earth. Renamed the SDF-1 Macross, it is rebuilt as humanity’s primary defense flagship. Ten years later, during its maiden voyage, an attack by the Zentradi warriors forces the ship into an emergency space fold, teleporting it and an entire civilian city to the edge of the solar system. The series follows pilot Hikaru Ichijyo, singer Lynn Minmay, and officer Misa Hayase in a war where culture and music prove to be more powerful weapons than cannons.
The success of Macross is inextricably linked to the Takatoku company, which achieved incredible sales records thanks to this series. The highlight of the production is the Valkyrie, the transformable fighter (in Jet, Gerwalk, and Robot modes) that revolutionized 1980s mechanical design. In 1999, an alien spaceship crashes on an island on Earth. Fearing an alien invasion, the spaceship is rebuilt to become the flagship of a fleet based on the newly acquired technology. 2009, on the day of the inauguration of the new spaceship, renamed Super Dimensional Fortress 1 Macross (abbreviated SDF-1), a self-defense mechanism of the ship unexpectedly activates, firing an interplanetary cannon that destroys some alien ships in orbit around the Earth and thus attracting the attention of the Zentradi, a people dedicated to war. The alien fleet then attacks the Earth. To remove the danger from the planet, Macross will load the island’s occupants on board (thereby becoming a flying city) and will make a space-time fold; the spaceship will exit the fold by mistake near Pluto, finding itself alone against a gigantic fleet of enemies. |
The diecast merchandising of the series was made by the TAKATOKU .
Macross is the series that has made Takatoku’s fortune the most, thanks to which it has achieved record sales of toys, especially for its flagship model: the Jet Valkiria. The production of diecast models related to the series has been enormous.

Hikaru Hichijō
Born in 1990, he is originally influenced by his father’s pacifist ideas, at least until the harshness of the war started by the alien race known as Zentradi, who attacks the Earth, does not affect him directly. During the series he will try to reconcile his personal feelings, with the reality of war and the need to confront an incredible alien race.
Lynn Minmay
Minmay is the personification of music, which plays a major role throughout the Macross series. In Macross, Minmay is the love interest of the protagonist Hikaru, and is a popular pop singer in the anime universe. Her songs, capable of putting Zentradi soldiers into a state of confusion, play a key role in the first space war against the Zentradi fleet.
Misa Hayase
Born on March 3, 1985, she is the daughter of Admiral Thomas Hayes, one of the members of the United Earth Government. Aimed at a military career at a very young age, Lisa joins Professor Edwards’ team that studies and reconstructs the SDF-1 that crashed on Earth. Having miraculously escaped Lord Kyron’s suicide attack, she officially begins her love story with Hikaru and with him she begins to plan the construction of the SDF-3 (since the SDF-2 was destroyed during that attack).
Bruno J. Global
Captain Global is an Italian submarine officer involved in the recovery of the alien ship into SDF-1 Macross. He is the ship’s bridge officer and is an extremely cold and rational man, smoking a pipe in moments of nervousness. After the triumphant war against the Zentradi, Global is promoted to admiral and in 2014 he retires from military life.
Roy Fokker
He is one of the best fighter pilots of the Earth Defense Forces (DEF). For his skills, he is appointed commander of the “Skull Patrol”, the spearhead of the Veritech squadrons: the name is given to him by his fighter, which stands out from the others for its completely white livery, with a pair of showy pirate insignia .
Max Jenius
Max is a pilot of the squadron led by Hikaru, when the latter succeeds the deceased Roy Fokker as leader of the “Skulls”. A special case, in the world of action series, it has been specified that he is the best pilot of the saga, and not the protagonist, but it is also made clear that despite being superior to Hikaru, Max is not equally suited to command, having a flying style too instinctive and anomalous for the other pilots to be able to follow him effectively.
Miria Jenius
Despite being a Zentradi, her appearance is very similar to that of a normal Earth girl. Myria is a highly skilled pilot in the Zentradi fleet. After being defeated in an aerial battle by the human Maximilian, she volunteers to be miniaturized to infiltrate the humans, where she ends up falling in love with and marrying Max himself.
Claudia LaSalle
She is the second officer on the bridge of the SDF-1, under the command of Henry Gloval. Her role is that of coordinator and navigator. She was the girlfriend of Roy Fokker. About 1.75 m tall, of African-American origin, she wears short hair and has a slender and athletic physique, with hazel eyes. She wears a uniform with the same cut as the rest of the senior officers, but dark green, with yellow ochre insignia.
Exsedol Folmo
Exsedol is the Zentradi registration officer. Later in the series when the Vrlitwhai fleet decides to side with the humans, Exsedol is shrunk to human size and sent as a peace ambassador. After the war, Exsedol resumes his role as advisor, as well as returning to his Zentradi size.
Zentradi
The Zentradi were created as a spacefaring race of giant humanoid warriors by the galaxy’s first civilization, the Protoculture, 497,500 years ago. They contributed greatly to the expansion of the Protoculture Civilization’s sphere of influence and the creation of a Protoculture Star Republic that controlled much of our galaxy. All full-blooded Zentradi are colossal giant clones, approximately 10 meters tall. For millennia, both male and female Zentradi were segregated, making natural reproduction impossible. To counteract this, both halves were created through artificial means, specifically cloning. Despite this, they are biologically similar to humans and are capable of producing hybrids. Since the end of the First Space War, many Zentradi have strayed from the strictly enforced practice of their society in favor of being micro-cloned to live among humans and interbreed with each other in an attempt to enforce peace. Notable examples include the human Maximilian Jenius and his Meltlandi myclone wife Milia Fallyna Jenius.
