Robot Keiji: Il Detective d’Acciaio

Robot Keiji (Robot Detective K) è una serie tokusatsu creata da Shotaro Ishinomori e prodotta dalla Toei nel 1973. Il protagonista è K, un robot dall’aspetto umanoide che indossa un cappotto e un cappello, creato per combattere il crimine organizzato della spietata organizzazione B.A.D. A differenza di altri eroi robotici, K possiede una profonda sensibilità umana e spesso si interroga sulle emozioni e sulla sua natura artificiale mentre lavora a fianco del detective veterano Go Shiba. Quando la battaglia si fa dura, K si toglie i vestiti civili, rivelando la sua corazza metallica e potenziando le sue capacità di combattimento.

Il merchandising vintage di Robot Keiji è estremamente specifico e si concentra quasi esclusivamente sulla linea Popinica della Popy. Contrariamente a quanto accade per altri supereroi, all’epoca non fu prodotto alcun modello Chogokin (serie GA) del robot K. Il pilastro indiscusso del collezionismo per questa serie è il PA-08 Joker, la celebre auto volante del detective. Questo modello è uno dei più iconici della produzione Popy degli anni ’70, caratterizzato da ali apribili, carrozzeria in metallo e una fedeltà assoluta al mezzo visto nello show televisivo. Nonostante la mancanza di un robot in metallo, il PA-08 è considerato un pezzo fondamentale e imprescindibile.

Robot Keiji: The Steel Detective

Robot Keiji (Robot Detective K) is a tokusatsu series created by Shotaro Ishinomori and produced by Toei in 1973. The protagonist is K, a humanoid robot who wears a trench coat and a hat, created to fight organized crime led by the ruthless B.A.D. organization. Unlike other robotic heroes, K possesses deep human sensitivity and often reflects on emotions and his artificial nature while working alongside veteran detective Go Shiba. When the battle intensifies, K sheds his civilian clothes, revealing his metallic armor and boosting his combat capabilities.

The vintage merchandising for Robot Keiji is extremely specific and focuses almost exclusively on Popy’s Popinica line. Contrary to other superheroes, no Chogokin model (GA series) of the robot K was produced at the time. The undisputed pillar of collecting for this series is the PA-08 Joker, the detective’s famous flying car. This model is one of the most iconic of Popy’s 1970s production, featuring opening wings, a diecast metal body, and absolute fidelity to the vehicle seen in the TV show. Despite the lack of a diecast robot, the PA-08 is considered an essential and fundamental piece for any archive.
